4. Plenty of room for more.

1. Bacon in baked goods: so good!!
2. "Designer" cake and baking mixes: Total crock
3. Salted caramel: delish
4. Cupcake shops opening everywhere: MORE MORE
5. French macarons: Definitely over hyped
6. Chilling dough for perfect cookies: is it worth the wait? Taste wise not really, looks wise YES.
7. Savory cupcakes: YUM YUM
8. Whoopie pies as the next big thing: do you agree? No, ik
1. Bacon in baked goods: so good or so over?
Kind of a cool idea, but I don't eat it, so over for me. I think once one person has done it, it's already over. Unless it is salted caramel, apparently.
2. "Designer" cake and baking mixes (for instance, those made by celebrity chefs or famous bakeries)--yay or nay?
Nay. Oh please. Like they can magically mix flour and sugar together better than I can?
3. Salted caramel: totally sweet or way too...salty?
Ha, speak of the devil. It is a fine, fine line. When the salt is tangible, like on an actual caramel - thumbs up. When it is a baked good with caramel essence and is just extra salty - thumbs way down.
4. Cupcake shops opening everywhere: enough is enough, or room for more?
There is a lot of crap. But I will pay ridiculous bucks for http://jennybakes.blogspot.com/2009/03/bakery-review-sisters-mcmullen-cupcake.html" REL="nofollow">good ones. And more shops just means more to taste. How can it be bad?
5. French macarons: delicate delight, or way overhyped?
They sure look pretty but I've never actually consumed one. I suspect I'd prefer a brownie.
6. Chilling dough for perfect cookies: is it worth the wait?
I was skeptical but it tasted good to me!
7. Savory cupcakes (for instance, meat loaf cupcake with mashed potato frosting): yum or yuck?
Yum! Especially in your blog. And I'm not brown-nosing, I just hadn't thought of it.
8. Whoopie pies as the next big thing: do you agree?
It's funny because this is the third or fourth time they've come up this week. I think the first time was an article in the NY Times, but I've seriously had pumpkin whoopie pies in my head for three days now.
# Bacon in baked goods: so good or so over?
So good!
# "Designer" cake and baking mixes (for instance, those made by celebrity chefs or famous bakeries)--yay or nay?
Nay
# Salted caramel: totally sweet or way too...salty?
Totally sweet!
# Cupcake shops opening everywhere: enough is enough, or room for more?
Definitely room for more
# French macarons: delicate delight, or way overhyped?
Delightful!
# Chilling dough for perfect cookies: is it worth the wait?
No
# Savory cupcakes (for instance, meat loaf cupcake with mashed potato frosting): yum or yuck?
Yum!
# Whoopie pies as the next big thing: do you agree?
I hope not!
1.Bacon in baked goods: so good or so over?
Not over, only because I haven't been able to try it for myself yet. When I do, then it can be over.
2."Designer" cake and baking mixes (for instance, those made by celebrity chefs or famous bakeries)--yay or nay?
Nay! Put your own love in a cake!
3. Salted caramel: totally sweet or way too...salty?
As long as we recognize that salted caramel stands apart from regular caramel...it's great!
4. Cupcake shops opening everywhere: enough is enough, or room for more?
5. French macarons: delicate delight, or way overhyped?
Overhyped for a reson! They are truly a delight!
6. Chilling dough for perfect cookies: is it worth the wait?
Absolutely. But one must be sure that they're not in need of instant cookie gratification going into it.
7. Savory cupcakes (for instance, meat loaf cupcake with mashed potato frosting): yum or yuck?
YUCK.
8. Whoopie pies as the next big thing: do you agree?
I don't, only because they're not really in abundance here in SF. But oh, if they were...
Bacon can be good--it depends!
No designer cake mixes!
Salted caramel is too salty.
You can never have too many *quality cupcake* bakeries. Saying that...time to shut down the crappy ones!
Overhyped macarons but still tasty.
Who has the patience to chill the dough?
No savory cupcakes...unless it's bacon.
Eh, whoopie pies, whoopie doo. Cuppies forever!
# Bacon in baked goods: so good or so over? I love bacon and I love baked goods, but I'm not a fan. I made maple bacon cupcakes once and they were...not so good.
# "Designer" cake and baking mixes (for instance, those made by celebrity chefs or famous bakeries)--yay or nay? Nay. I'd rather just make them from scratch.
# Salted caramel: totally sweet or way too...salty? Totally sweet!
# Cupcake shops opening everywhere: enough is enough, or room for more? We have two in San Diego. ROOM FOR MORE!
# French macarons: delicate delight, or way overhyped? I've never had them so I can't weigh in. They sure look pretty though.
# Chilling dough for perfect cookies: is it worth the wait? No. Cookie dough is not allowed to sleep longer than I do.
# Savory cupcakes (for instance, meat loaf cupcake with mashed potato frosting): yum or yuck? I'd try it.
# Whoopie pies as the next big thing: do you agree? I don't like the cake to frosting ratio. I NEED MORE FROSTING WHOOPIE PIE, DO YOU HEAR ME?
1. Bacon in baked goods: so good or so over?
It's bacon fat! How can bacon fat in anything be bad? Follow the Emril slogan in this case, "Pig fat rules."
2. "Designer" cake and baking mixes (for instance, those made by celebrity chefs or famous bakeries)--yay or nay?
As a starving college student who raids her piggy bank on the weekends to bake, I don't see the point in spending the extra money on something that tastes almost exactly the same. Why not spend that extra money on things to spruce up the cake instead?
3. Salted caramel: totally sweet or way too...salty?
Caramel is supposed to be sugar people! It's already rotting my teeth, it doesn't need to raise my blood pressure too....
4. Cupcake shops opening everywhere: enough is enough, or room for more?
If they have a new and novel idea for a cupcake shop then why not! But there is no point in trying to copy a store for profit... no one wins. :(
5. French macarons: delicate delight, or way overhyped?
When I eat a macaroon all I care about is fluffy delicious coconut, I don't care where it's from!
6. Chilling dough for perfect cookies: is it worth the wait?
Having grown up with boys in the house, if you leave the cookie dough not baked it somehow mysteriously disappears..... I say bake it if you really want those cookies. :)
7. Savory cupcakes (for instance, meat loaf cupcake with mashed potato frosting): yum or yuck?
Yuck. You can make them but just don't call them cupcakes!
8. Whoopie pies as the next big thing: do you agree?
Whoopie pies are a a favorite, but an oldie. There is nothing new about a Whoopie pie. There's only so many things you can do with cream and cake. Yummy none the less...
1. Bacon in anything is awesome! if i can get a chocolate fix and a bacon fix in the same bite I love it.
2. nay, selling out is never a good idea.
3. mmmm, right up there with bacon chocolate for me.
4. if you build it they will come.
5. a little too sweet for my taste.
6. patience is a virtue, it's definitely worth the wait if you'll be decorating them, not worth the wait if it's just for a snack.
7. surprisingly this grosses me out a little, maybe if you put some bacon on it I'll have a change of heart.
8. I have never eaten a whoopie pie in my life so I feel it's not fair to comment.
# Bacon in baked goods: so good or so over? Never went there, hope it's over!
# "Designer" cake and baking mixes (for instance, those made by celebrity chefs or famous bakeries)--yay or nay? Great for ideas and inspiration
# Salted caramel: totally sweet or way too...salty? Salted caramel?
# Cupcake shops opening everywhere: enough is enough, or room for more? It does seem out of control!
# French macarons: delicate delight, or way overhyped? overhyped, but maybe that's just me
# Chilling dough for perfect cookies: is it worth the wait? Depends on how much you need a cookie fix
# Savory cupcakes (for instance, meat loaf cupcake with mashed potato frosting): yum or yuck? yew, yuck
# Whoopie pies as the next big thing: do you agree? Looks like it's heading that way....
1. Bacon in baked goods: so over.
2. "Designer" cake and baking mixes (for instance, those made by celebrity chefs or famous bakeries)-- nay.
3. Salted caramel: totally sweet.
4. Cupcake shops opening everywhere: room for more.
5. French macarons: delicate delight.
6. Chilling dough for perfect cookies: is it worth the wait--sometimes.
7. Savory cupcakes (for instance, meat loaf cupcake with mashed potato frosting): yuck.
8. Whoopie pies as the next big thing: do you agree? might be.
*Love your blog---love the prizes!
1)Bacon in baked goods: so good or so over?
So over unless we all want to keel over sooner rather than later
2) "Designer" cake and baking mixes (for instance, those made by celebrity chefs or famous bakeries)--yay or nay?
Nay! A box mix is a box mix no matter who is smiling on the box!
3) Salted caramel: totally sweet or way too...salty?
All things in moderation, I say!
4) Cupcake shops opening everywhere: enough is enough, or room for more?
Enough is enough except in Australia where we have hardly any.
5) French macarons: delicate delight, or way overhyped?
Overhyped unless you are eating them actually IN France.
6) Chilling dough for perfect cookies: is it worth the wait?
Nope. Make a double batch, eat half raw and then bake the other half and bugger the fridge bit.
7) Savory cupcakes (for instance, meat loaf cupcake with mashed potato frosting): yum or yuck?
I believe these are called muffins??
8) Whoopie pies as the next big thing: do you agree?
Possibly, but only in the US.
What fun! Thanks CakeSpy!
Bacon in a corn muffin is like finding the yolk in a hard-boiled egg. No-brainer, never goes out of style. Designer or chef-based cake mixes – depends on what I’m baking. If time is short or the recipe is complex and I’m looking for ways to cut corners that won’t be visible in the end result, then yup, they’re perfect; otherwise, nothing beats a homemade cake. Salted caramel too sweet or too salty? Depends. It’s best as a very rare treat and has to be done perfectly…my preference would always be Fran’s for a perfect balance. Cupcake shops? The more the merrier. When you run out of inventive cupcake and frosting/filling recipes, then we’ll talk about shuttering shops. French macaroons haven’t even begun to be ordinary. Bring ‘em on! I always chill dough for perfect cookies. They hold their shape better and I have a few minutes to clean up or rest my feet or both! Can’t think of a single savory cupcake I want in my mouth and that goes double for Whoopie Pies.
1. I think the novelty wore off a long time ago, so I'm over it.
2. Nay, be your own celebrity chef.
3. I've had very nice salted caramel before though I've never made it myself.
4. Here in Hawaii there are a few, but not as many as there are in the mainland. It's nice to see different cupcakes being made instead of the traditional vanilla, chocolate, and red velvet all of the time.
5. I've never had French macaroons. My loss.
6. No, if I have to wait any longer to make cookies, I end up consuming raw cookie dough.
7. Yuck. There needs to be a line between dinner and dessert. If I have both at the same time, dinner and dessert won't have their specialness anymore.
8. Here in Hawaii, probably not, or not yet. Everything is in slow motion here. Cupcakes are not even that popular here!
Bacon in baked goods: so good or so over?
So over! That really doesn't sound appealing!
"Designer" cake and baking mixes (for instance, those made by celebrity chefs or famous bakeries)--yay or nay?
Nay. I'd rather just have the recipe and play with it myself!
Salted caramel: totally sweet or way too...salty?
Blech on both accounts...salty and caramel!
Cupcake shops opening everywhere: enough is enough, or room for more?
Always room for one more! (There's some street corners near me that still need some!)
French macarons: delicate delight, or way overhyped?
Overhyped. I like treats with substance! (Preferably gooey chocolatey substance.)
Chilling dough for perfect cookies: is it worth the wait?
Ummm...yeah, except for one problem: It's not likely to survive that long!
Savory cupcakes (for instance, meat loaf cupcake with mashed potato frosting): yum or yuck?
Do those count as cupcakes, or just miniature pot pies? Cupcakes should be sweet!
Whoopie pies as the next big thing: do you agree?
How can they be the next big thing if they've been that and gone? Making a comeback, I can see, but the next big thing? No.
1. So over!
2. Nay
3. Totally sweet (mmm salt!)
4. Enough is enough! (though we don't need to take any away...)
5. Waaaaaay overhyped
6. Don't wait! Eat now! Omnomnomnom!
7. Yum, and totally worth the surprised expressions when you serve them!
8. Not sure - probably not here in New Zealand, though
Hi there! I hope you are having a great day!!!!
Here are my answers to the questions.
1. Bacon in baked goods: so good or so over? So Over! Sure, it tastes great, but it's so not healthy fo you.
2. "Designer" cake and baking mixes (for instance, those made by celebrity chefs or famous bakeries)--yay or nay? Nay Nay... my mom wasn't famous and her cakes were awesome!
3. Salted caramel: totally sweet or way too...salty? Way too salty. Bring on the sweetness!
4. Cupcake shops opening everywhere: enough is enough, or room for more? I'd say room for more. Where I live they don't even have one cupcake shop so there is plenty of room here for a few stores. :-)
5. French macarons: delicate delight, or way overhyped? Yummy! Delicate delight.
6. Chilling dough for perfect cookies: is it worth the wait? Yes! It's so worth the wait. My grandmother used to do that as well as my mom. I do too (unless of course I'm in a hurry).
7. Savory cupcakes (for instance, meat loaf cupcake with mashed potato frosting): yum or yuck? EWWWW!!! Gross! YUCK!
8. Whoopie pies as the next big thing: do you agree? Weren't they already a "big thing"? Nah, I'd say they already had their 15 minutes...let someone else have the spotlight.

Bacon in baked goods: so good or so over?
It was never "in" for me so in theory can't be over. It does disgust me a bit though - bleugh
"Designer" cake and baking mixes (for instance, those made by celebrity chefs or famous bakeries)--yay or nay?
Nay. Any ready made mix is a nay

None near me so room for more!
French macarons: delicate delight, or way overhyped?
Both - if that's possible
Chilling dough for perfect cookies: is it worth the wait?
Yes. Everything good is worth waiting for.
Savory cupcakes (for instance, meat loaf cupcake with mashed potato frosting): yum or yuck?
Yuck x 1,000. Should be illegal.
Whoopie pies as the next big thing: do you agree?
I don't know what a whoopie pie is!
1.Bacon in baked goods -- depends on what you are baking -- yum for some, but I just don't get it in some sweets.
2. "Designer" cake and baking mixes -- if they get more people baking at home, then yay!
3. Salted caramel: Way too salty
4. Cupcake shops opening everywhere: More, more! Indiana needs cupcake shops!
5. French macarons: delicate delight! Oh man, don't get me started . . .
6. Chilling dough for perfect cookies is ALWAYS worth the wait!
7. Savory cupcakes could make a great April Fool's dinner!
8. Whoopie pies as the next big thing: do you agree? I'm not a fan -- give me a Moon Pie any day!
