Bacon in baked goods: so good or so over?

Salted caramel: totally sweet or way too...salty? Perfection!
Cupcake shops opening everywhere: enough is enough, or room for more? I'd like to see some more fun, funky all around bakeries.
French macarons: delicate delight, or way overhyped? Overhyped!
Chilling dough for perfect cookies: is it worth the wait? Depends on the cookie.
Savory cupcakes (for instance, meat loaf cupcake with mashed potato frosting): yum or yuck? Could be yum.
Whoopie pies as the next big thing: do you agree?
YES! Although, I don't find them to be terribly interesting.
# Bacon in baked goods: so good or so over? - Never had any but I'm going to go with SO OVER!

# Salted caramel: totally sweet or way too...salty? - mmm TOTALLY sweet!
# Cupcake shops opening everywhere: enough is enough, or room for more? - I never say no to a cupcake, so ROOM FOR MORE as long as they're tasty!
# French macarons: delicate delight, or way overhyped? - OMG. I. Love. Macarons. Delicate delight for certain.
# Chilling dough for perfect cookies: is it worth the wait? - Hmm...depends on my mood. I like to chill for about 15 minutes... but sometimes you just need a quick fix!
# Savory cupcakes (for instance, meat loaf cupcake with mashed potato frosting): yum or yuck? - I'm gonna go with YUCK.
# Whoopie pies as the next big thing: do you agree? - Oh I hope so! After that NYT article, they look SO deliciosu!
Bacon in baked goods: so good or so over?
-Bacon is great, but in everything? So over.
"Designer" cake and baking mixes (for instance, those made by celebrity chefs or famous bakeries)--yay or nay?
-Nay - they're still mixes just with a celebrity price tag.
Salted caramel: totally sweet or way too...salty?
- Mmmmm fantastic, especially with a sprinkle of fleur de sel!

- Problem is with quantity has come lack of quality...but there is always room for GOOD cupcakes!

Whoopie pies as the next big thing: do you agree?
-No, they've been around forever, and as yummy as they are, the next big thing? Nah.
1. Bacon in baked goods: so good or so over?
So over. The novelty has definitely worn off.
2. "Designer" cake and baking mixes (for instance, those made by celebrity chefs or famous bakeries)--yay or nay?
Depends on the mix, really. I love Ina Garten's stuff, but it's really the quality that drives me to like it, not the name.
3. Salted caramel: totally sweet or way too...salty?
Totally sweet. It's my grandmother's favorite!
4. Cupcake shops opening everywhere: enough is enough, or room for more?
Room for more, but that depends on the city, I suppose. We could use a few in San Antonio...
5. French macarons: delicate delight, or way overhyped?
Can it be both? I'm a little tired of hearing about them, but they're still delightful.
6. Chilling dough for perfect cookies: is it worth the wait?
Sometimes...if you sneak some dough out of the fridge when no one's looking...
7. Savory cupcakes (for instance, meat loaf cupcake with mashed potato frosting): yum or yuck?
A polite "no, thank you."
8. Whoopie pies as the next big thing: do you agree?
I disagree. There are other "big things" out there, waiting to be discovered.
Bacon in baked goods: so good or so over?
I think it's on its way out.
"Designer" cake and baking mixes (for instance, those made by celebrity chefs or famous bakeries)--yay or nay?
Not for me, but for people who love Rachel Ray, anything is possible.
Salted caramel: totally sweet or way too...salty?
I love Obama, and Obama loves them, but they're icky.
Cupcake shops opening everywhere: enough is enough, or room for more?
Cupcakes are almost over. And there IS a Bellevue cupcake shop- NY Cupcakes in Crossroads.
Bakeries are better- why do we have no late-night dessert places other than Dilletante??
French macarons: delicate delight, or way overhyped?
Amazing. Anyone who's had them fresh in a Paris bakery knows they are not overhyped. They're just not done right here.
Chilling dough for perfect cookies: is it worth the wait?
I don't bake. That's why I married a chef.
Savory cupcakes (for instance, meat loaf cupcake with mashed potato frosting): yum or yuck?
I just threw up in my mouth a little.
Whoopie pies as the next big thing: do you agree?
They could be the next annoying-trendy-bandwagon for all fashion victims to jump onto. Looks that way.
-Bacon in baked goods: so good or so over? SO GOOD. Maybe a little over, but mostly good.
-"Designer" cake and baking mixes (for instance, those made by celebrity chefs or famous bakeries)--yay or nay? Meh. At the end of the day, it's still a cake mix.
-Salted caramel: totally sweet or way too...salty? Completely delicious and ruling.
-Cupcake shops opening everywhere: enough is enough, or room for more? Bring 'em on!
-French macarons: delicate delight, or way overhyped? Overhyped.
-Chilling dough for perfect cookies: is it worth the wait? OH YES.
-Savory cupcakes (for instance, meat loaf cupcake with mashed potato frosting): yum or yuck? Gross, gross, gross.
-Whoopie pies as the next big thing: do you agree? Sure! I'm from New England, so I may be biased in favor of the Whoopie pie, but I'd love to see them everywhere.
#1 As the only bacon-hater on the face of the earth, YUCK.
#2 A mix is a mix - NO WAY
#3 Salty + Sweet = hooray!
#4 There is not a single cupcake shop in the state of Maine, to my knowledge, so more cupcake shops are a big fat YES.
#5 Macarons are awesome. Just as fun as cupcakes.
#6 Many foods improve with age, so chilling dough is ALWAYS worth it. Just eat some of the dough if you get impatient!
#7 Can't get into savory cupcakes; no thank you.
#8 I don't think whoopie pies are interesting/versatile enough. Get over them soon plz, culinary world.
1. Over
2. nay
3. depends who makes it
4. more, in different cities
5. delight
6. yes
7. yuck
8. sounds good to me.
TS (if I win, can I contact you by email?)
1.) Over, except in chocolate.
2.) Cake mix can never beat flour, sugar, butter, eggs, vanilla, baking powder, and a pinch of salt. Ever. Why buy a box with dough conditioners, when you have all the things you need at home?
3.) Depends. Usually too salty.
4.) Bakeries should serve everything. I don't want a cupcake.
5.) Ew.
6.) Worth it for flat cookies.
5.) YUCK. Muffins, yes. Cupcakes, no.
6.) A flash in the baking pan.
I just ordered my strawberry cake card holder this morning, before I saw your post!
1. Bacon in baked goods: so good or so over? so over!
2. "Designer" cake and baking mixes (for instance, those made by celebrity chefs or famous bakeries)--yay or nay? definitely nay - i'd rather bake my own than buy the over priced sprinkles canister any day.
3. Salted caramel: totally sweet or way too...salty? depends on the amount of salt. very good if not TOO salty.
4. Cupcake shops opening everywhere: enough is enough, or room for more? as long as they are serving up quality cupcakes at a reasonable price, i would be happy to have a few more in my area.
5. French macarons: delicate delight, or way overhyped? i still haven't had or made one, so i'm truly hoping for delicate delight and not overhyped.
6. Chilling dough for perfect cookies: is it worth the wait? been there, done that, so not worth it.
7. Savory cupcakes (for instance, meat loaf cupcake with mashed potato frosting): yum or yuck? i haven't gone there yet, but i don't think i really want too.
8. Whoopie pies as the next big thing: do you agree? potentially. they have a retro factor which seems to be a quality needed for mass enjoyment.
1) Bacon in baked goods: so good or so over? Haven't tried but my taste buds are screaming DON'T GO THERE.
2) "Designer" cake and baking mixes (for instance, those made by celebrity chefs or famous bakeries)-- Nay! Be your own designer and follow a recipe from a cookbook.
3)Salted caramel: totally sweet or way too...salty? I'm thinking my taste buds would like to give this one a try.
4)Cupcake shops opening everywhere: enough is enough, or room for more? I haven't seen one yet so I'm in the 'room for more' group.
5) French macarons: delicate delight, or way overhyped? Overhyped!
6)Chilling dough for perfect cookies: is it worth the wait? The only dough that I really need to chill is for sugar cookies. Everything else goes from the mixer to the oven pronto and still tastes great.
7)Savory cupcakes (for instance, meat loaf cupcake with mashed potato frosting): yum or yuck? yuck isn't a big enough word to describe the idea.
8) Whoopie pies as the next big thing: do you agree? Never had one so I can't opine.
1. Bacon in baked goods: so good or so over? hmm... so good
2. "Designer" cake and baking mixes (for instance, those made by celebrity chefs or famous bakeries)--yay or nay? - depends on who, but naybe? is that a new word ? LOL
3. Salted caramel: totally sweet or way too...salty? totally sweet.
4. Cupcake shops opening everywhere: enough is enough, or room for more? room for much much more. I'm waiting for a cupcake stand at Safeco field. Chop Chop people, baseball starts in Seattle in a few weeks. !
5 French macarons: delicate delight, or way overhyped? ooh, delicate delight. I went to Honore... I have to go back... hmm... now that you mention it, I think I'll go Saturday.
6 Chilling dough for perfect cookies: is it worth the wait? worth the wait, yes... do they still get cooked? no... because I eat it all...
7 Savory cupcakes (for instance, meat loaf cupcake with mashed potato frosting): yum or yuck? yuck
8. Whoopie pies as the next big thing: do you agree? no. For my co-workers and I, the next big thing has been Bakerella's cupcake bites. I've been making one or two kinds every month for our work parties and no one can get enough of them. Current fave: Lemon cake with Lemon frosting, dipped in white candy melts. (you can see some of them on my blog - www.mionebristow.blogspot.com )
