Where to Go: A Sweet Giveaway For a $50 Amex Gift Card

Photo: Bakery NouveauSo. Recently Where.com offered to donate a $50 Amex Gift Card to one lucky reader on my site for giving their site a plug. (See how I just gave them a plug right there?).

Thanks for the giveaway, WHERE!And this offer got me to thinking about how many delicious baked goods could be purchased with $50, so I agreed--because surely there's got to be someone out there who would be thrilled to have money with which to go buy baked goods, right? Plus, I already have a giveaway going on for the kids--this one is for the grownups!

But here's the thing. To enter to win, you've got to do two things.

First, you've got to promise me that you will use the $50 gift card to buy baked goods or some sort of baking related equipment. You've got to PROMISE ME, and not be lying.

Second, you've got to leave a comment below telling me where you'd spend this gift card, and on what. I'll tell you right now, if I were the winner, I would, right this instant, get my butt over to Bakery Nouveau and buy an entire King Cake, and with any leftover money I'd buy a bunch of smaller pastries and be sure to leave the counter staff a nice tip. Wouldn't that be a sweet way to spend $50?

How about you--what sweet treat would you buy with $50, care of Where?

This giveaway will close one week from today, on March 4 at 3pm PST.

I pinkie swear. Does Trophy Cupcakes accept AMEX cards? How about Mighty-O? Those would be my first two stops!

Okay first... I PROMISE!! Secondly... I would either buy cupcakes for me and my man at this cute little cupcake place called the flour shoppe... OR I'd put it towards some kind of stand/holders for all my baking specific things so I can display how awesome everything is...that is definitely what I'd do...

First of all, I do promise, cross my heart and hope to die. I will send you pictures as proof.
And for sure, I would go buy a ton of Scharffen Berger chocolate to experiment with... and some Silpat baking sheet liners... and probably some milk to drink with my creations. ;)

Cupcake pans! I left mine in Arizona when I moved up here so I am now unable to mix the cupcakes of my dreams :(

I would definitely use it for baked goods. There are too many bakeries in my town that I want to try :) One of them is the Gourmet Tiger. They have amazing layer cakes including tuxedo mousse, caramel and Italian cream. I would also want to try the key lime cheesecake. And get at least one of every dessert bar there, especially the peanut butter brownie, red velvet chess, pecan pie bar, and snickers chess. Excuse me I have to go make brownies to try to satisfy the immense craving for sweet chocolatey goodness I have now.

I totally promise. My first thought was also Bakery Noveau, but then I remember Le Reve in Queen Anne that we tried this past weekend. It was amazing. And oddly, the (savory) bread pudding was my favorite...

I would go on a shopping spree at King Arthur Flour and buy all of those goodies I've been drooling over but haven't splurged on. I'm dying to try their cinnamon chips.

I would use it to make a trip down to Birmingham, AL where I lived last year, and go to my favorite bakery there, Edgar's Bakery. I used to go there every week and I miss it terribly. I'd buy as many cupcakes (they have the best chocolate icing ever), cookies, and other delicious treats they have so I can stock up on Edgar's pastries to bring home to Atlanta.

There's a store in Chicago called Fox & Obel that has basically everything a baker could wish for, in terms of ingredients, complete with a cafe and a pastry counter. I could EASILY spend ten times more then I can possibly afford in that store, so the GC would help keep me out of the poor house :D

Having just accepted a job in Arlington, VA in the last 32 hours I have to say I am about to *pop* just thinking about going to Georgetown Cupcakes in D.C. one weekend soon! With my $50 AMEX gift card I would buy:

- 1 dozen cupcakes to share with my housemates: a menagerie of Irish Cream, Strawberry, Vanilla Birthday (just because) and Sunshine.
- Logo T-shirt to wear while eating my delicious, wonderful, fantastic, "entire-reason-I-won't-go-crazy-commuting-at-5 o'clock" cupcakes.

:-)

I promise I would take that $50 gift card to Cookies (in Ballard - notice the plug for my favorite baking store) - and I would have a spending spree. For sure I would get green colored sugar for shamrock cookes as St. Patty's Day is coming up soon. I would also get some of the other decorations and a few new cookies cutters. With what was left, I would head north to Larsen's Amazing Danish Bakery on Wednesday morning and get half priced baked goods for my work, hopefully including an apple fritter, an almond twist and a few danishes, yum! Wow, I might need a trip to Larsen's even if I don't win ;-)

I'm in serious need of some good bread pans. I know that is way boring, but there would be enough left to get something sinfully scrumptious.

A local bakery, Wild Flour Bakery makes the worlds. best. macarons. They only put them on their cookie trays though. (which is totally criminal if you ask me.) With $50 I would special order a bunch. they are to die for.

Well I would probably have to pay it on my daughter's wedding cake. I just got the price today and I could use the extra $50. How about a spice cake for a wedding cake!

OMG, I would so go load up on cupcake pans--mini and giant--piping bags, and tips at Mrs. Cooks. I have so many recipes from you and @bakeitinacake bookmarked that I'm about to have a cakegasm. And I want to fill my kitchen with pie...so many delicious mini pies. Also, mini hazelnut tart baked inside a chocolate frangelico cupcake with nutella frosting. Just sayin'...
i would use it all at crumbs! YUM! spend it on an assortment of each type of cupcake
