Where to Go: A Sweet Giveaway For a $50 Amex Gift Card

Photo: Bakery NouveauSo. Recently Where.com offered to donate a $50 Amex Gift Card to one lucky reader on my site for giving their site a plug. (See how I just gave them a plug right there?).

Thanks for the giveaway, WHERE!And this offer got me to thinking about how many delicious baked goods could be purchased with $50, so I agreed--because surely there's got to be someone out there who would be thrilled to have money with which to go buy baked goods, right? Plus, I already have a giveaway going on for the kids--this one is for the grownups!

But here's the thing. To enter to win, you've got to do two things.

First, you've got to promise me that you will use the $50 gift card to buy baked goods or some sort of baking related equipment. You've got to PROMISE ME, and not be lying.

Second, you've got to leave a comment below telling me where you'd spend this gift card, and on what. I'll tell you right now, if I were the winner, I would, right this instant, get my butt over to Bakery Nouveau and buy an entire King Cake, and with any leftover money I'd buy a bunch of smaller pastries and be sure to leave the counter staff a nice tip. Wouldn't that be a sweet way to spend $50?

How about you--what sweet treat would you buy with $50, care of Where?

This giveaway will close one week from today, on March 4 at 3pm PST.

I desperately need new cookie sheets!

If I won the gift card, I wouldn't dare spend it anywhere else but Tartine in New Orleans. Of course, I am biased because my sister-in-law owns and operates it, but her baked goods are out of this world! She's a professional pastry chef trained at the French Culinary Institute and was head pastry chef at Muriel's, so she knows her stuff. Also, I haven't had a chance to see my brother and sister-in-law in quite awhile, or even meet my baby nephew, so it would make for an extra sweet transaction.

Yeah, I'd also go to Bakery Nouveau - I'd use it to buy a strawberry cake for my upcoming elopement to surprise my fiance. I'm a nerd like that, and it would mean more cake for me!

I would walk right across the street from my office to Monica's Bundt Cakes and buy the freshest most delicious bundt cake she had on the shelf. With the rest of the money, I would browse William's Sonoma or King Arthur Flour and spend the rest. I SWEAR!

Firstly, why would anyone lie about buying baked goods? D:
Secondly, I would buy stuff to make cupcakes, because I am in college and always wish I had cupcakes/things to make them with/money to buy things to make them with. Currently I own one whole cookie sheet and a spatula. This should change.

I'd finally go try all my local bakeries in one day!!

I PROMISE I will use the $50 to buy baked goods or supplies.

I'd spend the gift card at either Hobby Lobby (do they have that stuff?) or Bed, Bath and Beyond on decorating supplies like cake tips and good icing bags. I'm ready to start my cupcake phase.
I would have to divide it between Selmarie and Angel Food Bakery in Chicago. *sigh* Now I really want some cupcakes.....

I'd go to Williams & Sonoma and get some baking supplies, I love all of their stuff!

PROMISE!!!! You had me at King Cake!!! (I need to get it here by Fat Tuesday, so I hope I win quick!)

I would go to City Kitchens and Sur La Table and get the giant whoopee pie pan, another regular sized whoopie pie pan (you can never have enough), another muffin/cupcake pan (can never have enough of those either) and MORE muffin/cupcake liners (see previous comments in parentheses!). Oh and MOAR SPATULAS! :))

Cream puffs for everyone in my gigantic family from Beard Papa's or a few dozen cookies from Anthony's cookies, both in SF <3 Binge eating, here I come!

A few years in ago in Baltimore my friend Nisha and I did a cupcake tour, and went to as many cupcake places in a day as we could. I promise if I win the card to do the same thing in DC, where I think the sheer number will be a lot more overwhelming! =)

I would head right over to Bed, Bath and Beyond and buy donut pans. I found a recipe for baked donuts. Yum!

I live in New Orleans, so I'm already up to my neck in king cakes. But I'd go nuts in some of our other bakeries/sweet shops, that I've never fully explored thanks to lack of funds...Sucre, Tartine, Maple Street Patissiere, Maurice French Pastries, etc.

Oooh I'd totally get a whoopie pie pan, whoopie pan cookbook and the necessary ingredients. There is fun (and whoopie pies) to be had!

I promise to buy baking related equipment with the AMEX giftcard.
I really need some accessories for my lonely Kitchen Aid stand mixer.
Please help a baker out!

Have a good day!

If I had a complimentary AMEX card for $50, I would most certainly spend it on baked goods. As a matter of fact, I would indeed spend it at Bakery Nouveau, when all other options are out there. And I would buy the twice baked crossants and those delectable little round chocolate cookies. Oh and a couple baguettes. Maybe I will do it even without the AMEX card, now that I am thinking about it! Yum.

I promise to use the AMEX giftcard on some delicious baked treats!
I promise. I promise.
CakesSuzzet.com has some delicious looking mallomore's I want to try (thank you for the suggestion). Also, I want to try out my local Italian pastry shop called Vaccaro's in Baltimore.
I just moved to the area and heard that Vaccaro's has some yummy cannolis and tiramisu.
Yummmy!

I've been plotting a baking extravaganza for next week and this would be the perfect seed money for the cookies and cake I've been planning!

I think I would buy some cookie cutters, a rotating cake icing stand thingy, and of course lots of supplies to bake with!

Thank you for the giveaway!

I would go to Burbank CA and use all the money on sweets and treats from Yummy Cupcakes! They are amazing and you can even get them to go in a jar!:)
