Where to Go: A Sweet Giveaway For a $50 Amex Gift Card

Photo: Bakery NouveauSo. Recently Where.com offered to donate a $50 Amex Gift Card to one lucky reader on my site for giving their site a plug. (See how I just gave them a plug right there?).

Thanks for the giveaway, WHERE!And this offer got me to thinking about how many delicious baked goods could be purchased with $50, so I agreed--because surely there's got to be someone out there who would be thrilled to have money with which to go buy baked goods, right? Plus, I already have a giveaway going on for the kids--this one is for the grownups!

But here's the thing. To enter to win, you've got to do two things.

First, you've got to promise me that you will use the $50 gift card to buy baked goods or some sort of baking related equipment. You've got to PROMISE ME, and not be lying.

Second, you've got to leave a comment below telling me where you'd spend this gift card, and on what. I'll tell you right now, if I were the winner, I would, right this instant, get my butt over to Bakery Nouveau and buy an entire King Cake, and with any leftover money I'd buy a bunch of smaller pastries and be sure to leave the counter staff a nice tip. Wouldn't that be a sweet way to spend $50?

How about you--what sweet treat would you buy with $50, care of Where?

This giveaway will close one week from today, on March 4 at 3pm PST.

I promise to go to Crave Cupcakes in Calgary with eight of my girlfriends. We would then take about three dozen cupcakes to Steeps tea house and order delicious tea and then we would indulge, talk and have a wonderful girl afternoon without the kiddies or hubbies. Hmmmm sounds lovely :)

If I win, I promise I will spend the money on cupcakes for my coworkers; we are teachers at a middle school, and it's the most difficult time of the school year. Cupcakes definitely would be a welcome mood booster.

Things I would spend it on: 1. An additional 8" round cake pan, as I only have two and many of the cake recipes in the Baked books call for three. 2. Cupcakes from the new Sprinkles near me. 3. Cookies from Uncle Biff's Killer Cookies. 4. Ingredients to bake more cakes/cookies/cupcakes.

I promise. Not exactly a difficult promise to make, you know? I'd be seriously tempted to buy something at the Zingerman's Bakehouse. But I've been meaning to order something from Gesine. Decisions, decisions.

I was gonna say that I would spend $50 on cupcakes from sprinkles. Then I decided that I'd get more for my money by buying the sprinkles mix from williams sonoma. Plus I'd get the pleasure of making them. Win-win...win.

I would take my honey out for the day at The North Market here in Columbus, OH. He is getting ready to leave on a 6 month hike on the Appalachian Trail....so as my treat I would get him ANY treats he wants since he will be living on trail mix, noodles, and beef jerky for a long time! And, boy, do I know what he would get there....Sweet and Salty Popcorn from "Pam's Market Popcorn", a Belgian Waffle smothered in salted Caramel Sauce from "Taste of Belgium", a couple savory scones or croissants from "Omega Artisan Bakery", and a final stop at "Jeni's Ice Cream" for a trio of Bangkok Peanut, Dark Chocolate, and Roxbury Road ice creams...yum!!
