Where to Go: A Sweet Giveaway For a $50 Amex Gift Card

Photo: Bakery NouveauSo. Recently Where.com offered to donate a $50 Amex Gift Card to one lucky reader on my site for giving their site a plug. (See how I just gave them a plug right there?).

Thanks for the giveaway, WHERE!And this offer got me to thinking about how many delicious baked goods could be purchased with $50, so I agreed--because surely there's got to be someone out there who would be thrilled to have money with which to go buy baked goods, right? Plus, I already have a giveaway going on for the kids--this one is for the grownups!

But here's the thing. To enter to win, you've got to do two things.

First, you've got to promise me that you will use the $50 gift card to buy baked goods or some sort of baking related equipment. You've got to PROMISE ME, and not be lying.

Second, you've got to leave a comment below telling me where you'd spend this gift card, and on what. I'll tell you right now, if I were the winner, I would, right this instant, get my butt over to Bakery Nouveau and buy an entire King Cake, and with any leftover money I'd buy a bunch of smaller pastries and be sure to leave the counter staff a nice tip. Wouldn't that be a sweet way to spend $50?

Penzeys Spices! Saffron and Black Salt! So much black salt. It's high in sulfur, so it has a very eggy taste -- something I miss, as a vegan! I wouldn't normally spend the money just to have it around, but man.

I pinky swear that I would use it on baked goods. My boyfriend's sister's birthday is coming up, I would go and get her as many cupcakes as $50 could buy...or a cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory and cupcakes. Yum.

I would go down to German Village in Columbus and buy macarons from Pistacia Vera and macroons from Jergans(did I spell it right?). I promise that I would spendi it on this or some other baked good if I was not able to get to Columbus.

I PROMISE to spend it on baking supplies. I'd go to the grocery store and spend an hour in the baking aisle picking one of everything. Then I'd go to the dairy case and spend $15 on butter. Haha. Then this way my husband couldn't give me a hard time for spending our grocery money on baking.

I would lovelovelove to blow $25 dollars on cupcakes at SweetArt Bakery in St. Louis, MO and then $25 on some delicious French treats at La Bonne Bouche Bakery (also in St. Louis!). Yum!

I would take that hot little gift card right into Seattle where I would do the Toure de Cupcake in no time at all. With pictures!! I might even make a pitstop at the new High 5 Pie store, because... crust! Can't deny it!

Well if I won i would have to go to the best cupcake place in chicago which would be a 3 way tie to Crumbs, Sweet Mandy B's, and Molly's cupcakes! I would get cupcakes from all of them! It would be the best day EVER!

I would use the gift card at Whole Foods and buy awesome baking supplies like King Arthur Flours, organic extracts, rose water, organic citrons (key limes! Meyer lemons!), baking cocoa and baking chips! I would have a BLAST!!!! :-)

I solemnly swear that I would only use this go to every pie place in Seattle and check out what each has to offer in the way of my favorite dessert, apple pie. And of course I'd bring a friend or two in order to help judge other pies.

I promise that this card would go toward bakery trouble. Most likely I would put it toward the mini pie maker by Breveille, but it might be better spent on a bunch of odds and ends for baking madness from Crate and Barrel. Fun!
