Cake Poll: How Do You Eat A Cupcake?

Win them!
Musing over methods of snack-eating is practically an American pastime. There have been ad campaigns centered on how people eat Reese's Peanut Butter Cups; there have been studies on the characteristics associated with various methods of Oreo-eating.

But now, it's time to attack the sweetest treat of all: the cupcake. Tell us how you eat yours in the comment section, and you'll be entered to win a completely awesome prize pack, which will include:

-------------------------------

How do you eat yours?
How do you eat yours?
Do you eat it with a knife and fork, pinkies out?
Do you tear it in half and discard the bottom so as to increase the frosting-to-cake ratio?
Do you invert it, sandwich-style, to keep your fingers free of frosting?
Do you eat yours with a spoon, served in a dish of milk?
...Or do you just dig in?
Can't wait to read your responses! A winner will be chosen at random shortly after the cake poll closes at noon (12 p.m. PST) on Friday, May 15.

I tend to tear at the bottom first, and then tackle the best part last, the frosting! Of course, I tend to get covered in said frosting but its completely worth it!

i just remove half of the cupake liner so that the other half frm where i m holding still has the liner and eat it so that I ll be eating a piece of cake and some frosting with every bite :)

I furtively nibble. Rat-like. If someone passes by I hunch over and may even hiss.

I just rip the cupcake liner off and eat the whole thing in about 2-3 bites frosting and all. I bite from the top to the bottom so I always get frosting and cake in all the bites. I am barbaric when I eat cupcakes LOL They are so good, I cannot eat it fast enough, one of my favorite desserts!

I unhinge my jaw like a snake to get the proper cake to frosting ratio. That's the only way!

Sometimes I rip off the bottom and smush it on top like a sandwich. But most of the time, when I can sit down and enjoy a 'cake with a cup of coffee, I tear off pieces from the edges and bottom and scoop a little frosting off the top with the piece before popping it in my mouth. This assures the same frosting-to-cake ratio in every bite, without frosting overload at the middle of the 'cake top.

I start off with a bite of the whole cupcake. Then I'll try the frosting by itself to see how the flavor is. Then the came by itself to see if it's dry, has freezer taste, etc. Then...finish the cupcake in straightforward fashion. I"ll eat the whole thing unless I take serious dislike to frosting in which case I'll scrape most of it into napkin before continuing.

i unwrap it and put it on a cute little plate (if eaten at home) and cut it in two, then i eat each slice in a few bites! i like being able to see the inside of the cupcake and it makes it easier to manage rather than shoving the whole thing in my face (which...might be fun on second thought).

I would pull down a bit of the side cake liner and start taking a bite on the side first, working slowly towards the other end. :)

I peel off half the wrapper and take a bite of cake/icing first. Then I eat the icing by using my finger like a spoon (maybe not if eating in public!). I usually get sick of the icing half way through (I'm not really an icing girl - it's too sweet) so I will take the wrapper off fully and wipe the remaining icing off the cake onto the wrapper. Then I eat the cake by itself - that's the best part! The wrapper with half the icing on it goes into the bin.

Ok, so if the icing is set or glazed, I rip off the liner and then start demolishing the icing mushroom top until all that's left is a pathetic stalk that needs to be put out of it's misery in one foul chomp.
If it's a mountain of buttercream or cream cheese, I splay out the liner in an almost floral display and rip pieces of cupcake off to dip in the icing. If it's a black bottomed or filled cupcake, the whole thing goes in massive oversized messy bites in my mouth..and on my shirt...and on my face..and in my hair. mmmmm.

When I was a kid I used to scrape all the frosting off the top and set it aside so I could eat it last. Because I feel it is slightly more respectable than eating a pile of frosting with my finger in public, I now tear the bottom half off and eat it first, then eat the top with the frosting. I like a good 1:1 frosting ratio.

i always adore your cupcake arts! i love love love those! i wish i could make one as good as yours! ;)

Beautiful artwork Jessie...it ROCKS! I like to gingerly take the wrapper off the cupcake, & then dig in! I love cupcake wrappers, pretty ones at that, so give them due respect!!

I peel off the sides of the wrapper first, then pick it up by the cake part and dig in from one side and work my way across until sadly it's all gone!

i like a 2: 1, cake to frosting ratio. i eat cupcakes neatly slicing it with a fork with the 2:1 ratio (yes, i'm OCD). when i'm done and there's left over frosting, scoop it with the fork and eat it whole...yummmmy!

I usually peel off the whole wrapper, then work my way through from the frosting down. Pre-licking of frosting sometimes occurs depending on how high it's piled on.

I like to eat most cupcakes sandwich style. Lop off the top and then make a little sweet sandwich.

I generally remove the frosting first. Sometimes I eat it and sometimes I don't! LOL! Although, I'm trying to eat them more like a "grown-up" lately and actually just bite the side and get the whole experience.

I like to share my cupcakes so I break mine in half. With my half I try to take bites that allow a little bit of icing for each bit of cake :) That way I get just the right bit of sweetness with each bite

I open wide and take big bites until its gone! Then I lick my fingers, too!

I tend to pop the top off, leaving the bulk of the cake behind & focus all of my attention on the frosting-covered top. I'll then eat the bottom if I'm still needing a little "something." :)

I usually taste the frosting first. Then I'll unwrap and take a bite with frosting and cake. Most of the time, I'm done with the frosting. I really like the cake part better than the frosting.

May 13 | Unregistered CommenterMichelle

I actually wipe the frosting off with the cupcake wrapper and throw it away then just eat the cake. I'm not a big fan of frosting in general. My dad does the same thing. Like father, like daughter I guess. :)

sandwich style, always. best way EVER!
