Cake Poll: How Do You Eat A Cupcake?

Win them!
Musing over methods of snack-eating is practically an American pastime. There have been ad campaigns centered on how people eat Reese's Peanut Butter Cups; there have been studies on the characteristics associated with various methods of Oreo-eating.

But now, it's time to attack the sweetest treat of all: the cupcake. Tell us how you eat yours in the comment section, and you'll be entered to win a completely awesome prize pack, which will include:

-------------------------------

How do you eat yours?
How do you eat yours?
Do you eat it with a knife and fork, pinkies out?
Do you tear it in half and discard the bottom so as to increase the frosting-to-cake ratio?
Do you invert it, sandwich-style, to keep your fingers free of frosting?
Do you eat yours with a spoon, served in a dish of milk?
...Or do you just dig in?
Can't wait to read your responses! A winner will be chosen at random shortly after the cake poll closes at noon (12 p.m. PST) on Friday, May 15.

First I take a little lick of frosting - gotta taste the frosting first. Then peel off half of the wrapper. And finally take a first bite that will include a 50/50 ratio of cake to frosting and the rest is history. If I love it, the second cupcake will be eaten in two bites.

I think the fun in having cupcakes is the eating of it! I love to just dig in, getting some frosting on my upper lip and feeling like a kid all over again. You just don't get that with any other dessert!

I tend to break off the top, and set it aside while i eat the bottom, so i can enjoy the icing covered goodness at the end. :)

I remove the cupcake liner, grab a fork, and make sure each bite has cupcake and frosting in eat.

It really depends on how delicious the frosting is. If it's amazing frosting, I'll have one bite that's both cake and frosting, and then I will lick the rest of the frosting off. I have no shame. Otherwise, I just eat it like normal.

I remove the liner and eat the bottom half of the cake. Then I eat the rest of the cake with the frosting. Excellent cake to frosting ratio!

Peel off the wrapper, munch on the cake part on the bottom, then take a bite of icing, then alternate until that tasty treat is all gone!

It depends on the cupcake. If it's a good cupcake, I like to eat it out of the wrapper using a spoon (I don't like getting frosting on my face). If it is a less than good cupcake, I eat the upper 1/3 only, because I LOVE FROSTING and even bad frosting is good, but bad cake is just bad.

I didn't realize there were so many ways to eat a cupcake! I just go across, getting a bit of cupcake and frosting in each bite. Very boring.

I always take off the bottom, eat that first, then eat the top with all the frosting. I love frosting.

I open my mouth wide, trying to get cake and frosting in same bite, lean in, and hope for the best!

May 13 | Unregistered Commenterherbstsonne

what is wrong with you people? i dive head first into that thing and don't stop until i'm eating my own fingers!

May 13 | Unregistered CommenterBrittany

I just tear off the wrapper and go for it.

May 13 | Unregistered Commenterleightorres

Remove entire wrapper, bite carefully to maintain cake to frosting ratio.

May 13 | Unregistered CommenterFae

I like to nibble around the edges firstly and savour then remove the wrapper and get stuck in with a huge bite ..lol..

Hmmm... I usually pull off the wrapper, then devour it in three or four bites before smugly licking any crumbs or icing off my fingers. Oh, and you can't forget to check the tip of your nose for rogue frosting!!

May 13 | Unregistered CommenterKim

I usually just peel off the liner and do my best to get some frosting and cake in each bite. If it's got an exorbitant amount of frosting, I'll sometimes scoop some off before eating.

May 13 | Unregistered CommenterApril

I just dig in!

In public, I take off the top and eat the bottom first, saving the cake/frosting combo for last. It is less messy this way.

In private, I unwrap it and sink into it, letting my nose get covered in frosting if necessary. Yum.

I must admit in my realtionship with cupcakes, I am in it for the frosting. ;) The cake can be eaten after and washed down with a cup of milk or hot coffee.

to best enjoy a delicious cupcake: it's best to have a glass of soy milk on standby. then, with cupcake in hand, i have to suppress the urge to either lick or bite off the top. so, carefully, lovingly, and slowly, i pinch off the liner on one side, leaving it half on to catch crumbs. using the thumb and pointer i pinch off a bit of the bottom and i swipe the frosted top. i repeat until there is a precarious sliver of cupcake left with more top then bottom. this is the last beautiful bite. as i chew, i dust the remaining crumbs left in the liner into my mouth finishing with a delicious gulp of soy milk.

I rip small pieces off of my cupcake and try to get some frosting with EVERY bite!

To perfectly honest, I first savor the smell and site of the cupcake. They are just too pretty to dive right in! I remove the wrapper and take a bite. I usually make alot of MMMmmmm sounds. I like to make the cupcake last as long as possible. (Now I am hungry for a cupcake)

If I'm in public, I eat my cupcake with a fork.

If I'm at home I tear off the bottom, eat it first, then devour the rest!!! :)

I take a GIANT first bite that includes icing and cupcake. After that, I carefully lick off the icing, then eat the cake beneath it. Repeat until the entire delicious cupcake is gone. Mmm.
