Cake Poll: Let Me Eat Cake!

Giveaway: Let Me Eat Cake!
Do you love cake?

Do you really love cake?
Do you love cake so much that whenever you're in the same room, you find yourself unable to resist its siren call?
Then certainly Leslie F. Miller's new book, Let Me Eat Cake, is for you. Now, let's get it straight--though the book has a few recipes, that's not what it's about--it's more about the culture of cake, its lure and the lore behind it, baked up full of personal anecdotes and cake stories galore. And--as we were surprised and delighted to discover--there's even a mention of CakeSpy.com!

I found myself in Leslie's book!
And you, dear friend, could be the winner of a signed copy of the book. Oh, you want this!
To put your name in the running, simply answer this question in the comments. You can be as literal or as figurative as you like, just be sure to leave your thoughts on this important subject:
What is the best thing about cake?

The poll will be closed on Monday at 12 p.m. PST, and the winner will be announced shortly thereafter. If you're interested in purchasing the book, click here. Oh, and in case you were interested, the cupcake shown is a Chai Cardamom cupcake from Seattle's Trophy Cupcakes!

My favorite thing about cake is the fine moist crumbs- and they always look so festive! Great book.

"What is the best thing about cake?"

I think it is impossible to narrow this down, as cake is one of the few things in this world that is as close to perfection as you can get. I <3 cake.

The best thing about cake is that you can make it for a birthday party, a dinner party, a gathering of friends, for you and your s.o., OR for yourself only, and it fits EVERY occasion. Mmm.

The frosting! :) (or filling, or glaze or anything to make it look pretty!)

The perfect combination of cake and frosting in one bite.

The best thing about cake is the cake. Sweet, moist and fluffy. Cakey, perhaps? Just pure deliciousness that no other food can give.

The best thing about cake is the frosting! There are so many kinds of frosting that you can add to cakes, and they make them look awesome too. =]

The best thing about cake besides the yummy taste of course is the memories that go along with making and/or eating it.

Most people don't really remember what happens at birthday parties (unless it was REALLY memorable) but they usually remember their cakes long after. Not to mention when grandma or mom baked them (or even the year I baked one myself for my birthday when I was 9 or 10 and decorated it with my friend).

The best part about cake is the icing! As my family says, "Cake is mearly a vehicle for icing!"

The best thing about cake is how happy it makes me when eating it!!

Once finished, combining all the cake leftover scraps and sharing with the roomies!

The best thing about cake is baking it, smelling it in your kitchen, and then eating it still warm and dripping with frosting. That is the best thing about cake.

April 9 | Unregistered CommenterAshley

The best thing about cake? Usually someone else makes it for you. All you need to do is eat it up and celebrate!

April 9 | Unregistered Commenterkickpleat

Cake is love. Ilove how cake allows me to push the limits of my creativity. Cake brings people together and most often becomes the centerpiece of most occasions. Cake = Happiness.

Cake is family and a home.
After becoming a mom, I have this crazy urge/addiciton to baking a cake every weekend. Last weekend my husbnad and son were not at home... no cake :(
But there's gonna be one this weeekend! Yippie!

The best thing about cake is that the flavor combinations are endless--so there is a flavor for everyone! Cakes are my favorite dessert to make and oh-so-yummy when you get that perfect balance of moist, perfect crumb, and the best buttercream icing and the perfect amount put all together....nothing beats it!
