The only question whose answer isn't completely self-evident is question six. While chilling cookie dough may allow the wet ingredients to more fully penetrate the dry, any improvement in taste and texture is far overshadowed by the damage done to the soul by waiting. Unless, of course, you're not the one doing the baking and waiting. It's worth other people waiting.

# Bacon in baked goods: so good or so over? I love bacon, but not in my desserts. Hope that trend is OVER!

# "Designer" cake and baking mixes (for instance, those made by celebrity chefs or famous bakeries)--yay or nay? I prefer scratch and the "designer" ones are over priced.

# Salted caramel: totally sweet or way too...salty? LOVE it!!! Totally SWEET!

# Cupcake shops opening everywhere: enough is enough, or room for more? We only have one in our town so, always room for more around here!

# French macarons: delicate delight, or way overhyped? Never had one {gasp} So, I dunno.

# Chilling dough for perfect cookies: is it worth the wait? Absolutely! As long as my DH doesn't EAT the dough while I'm chilling it.

# Savory cupcakes (for instance, meat loaf cupcake with mashed potato frosting): yum or yuck? Blech, blech, blech. Though I'm considering it for April Fool's Day for my 6 y/o - she's at the perfect age for it!

# Whoopie pies as the next big thing: do you agree? Nah. Cupcakes still rock.

WAY TOO SALTY

Cupcake shops opening everywhere: enough is enough, or room for more?

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. THERE'S A FEW GEMS AND LETS LEAVE IT AT THAT.

French macarons: delicate delight, or way overhyped?

DELICATE DELIGHT

Chilling dough for perfect cookies: is it worth the wait?

2. "Designer" cake and baking mixes (for instance, those made by celebrity chefs or famous bakeries)--yay or nay? Depends if they taste good or not
3. Salted caramel: totally sweet or way too...salty? Too salty!
4. Cupcake shops opening everywhere: enough is enough, or room for more? Always room for a cupcake shop if their cakes are good, and the price is right!
5. French macarons: delicate delight, or way overhyped? Is it wrong to admit I don't even know what that is?
6. Chilling dough for perfect cookies: is it worth the wait? Always :)
7. Savory cupcakes (for instance, meat loaf cupcake with mashed potato frosting): yum or yuck? Yuck, yuck, yuck.
8. Whoopie pies as the next big thing: do you agree? Possibly, I've been making them for a while, so I am glad to have some new recipes to try as they come out.

March 26 | Unregistered CommenterJanelle Rene

1. Haven't tried it yet but it could be good.
2. Nay on the designer cake mixes. They are just the same as the cheaper stuff, full of unpronounceable ingredients.
3. Salted caramel: totally sweet!
4. Always room for more cupcake shoppes!
5. French macarons: delicate delight
6. I don't have the patience or freezer space to chill my dough so not worth the wait
7. Savory cupcakes = yuck!!
8. Whoopie pies as the next big thing: do you agree? - Nope!

March 26 | Unregistered CommenterKristin

1. So very good!
2. Nay on that one. Who cares whose chemicals they are?
3. Yummy! to salted caramels or any kind of caramels!
4. Enough on the cupcake shops.
5. Not knowledgeable on the macarons front, sadly. They look delish!
6. Chilling dough is worth it sometimes!
7. Could be yum I think.
8. I lust after them, but have never eaten or made them. They disappear very quickly in an office environment, so I never get one!

Bacon in baked goods: so good. so so good.

"Designer" cake and baking mixes: NAY!

Salted caramel: way too salty. i've tried salted caramel ice cream and it was cool at first, but it's not a flavor that you would go for again and again. not like cookies and cream.

Cupcake shops opening everywhere: room for more! the bakers need more room to express their creativity and we've only got to benefit, right?

French macarons: overhyped. definitely. i think its appeal is starting to fade even now... its too delicate to be something that you can say "yes i can bake this at home everyday".

Chilling dough for perfect cookies: no. this is why we eat the cookie dough - because we can't wait.

Savory cupcakes: i wouldn't say yum or yuck. but why must we call them cupcakes? to me, cupcakes are sweet things.

Whoopie pies as the next big thing: nope. do not agree.

1. Bacon-generally over, but bacon toffee as a topping=awesome
2. Designer mixes: nooooooo never, bake from scratch
3. Salted caramel: definitely sweet :)
4. Cupcake shops: there can never be too many cupcakes!
5. Macarons: deeeelightful.
6. Chilled cookie dough: the trick is to make tons of it, then chill most but bake a few so you don't have to wait.
7. Savory cupcakes: gross. Don't try to trick my sweet tooth, please.
8. Whoopie pies: nope, there are plenty of better things.

March 26 | Unregistered CommenterNatalie

1-Bacon in baked goods: so good or so over? only if baked goods are NOT sweet
2- "Designer" cake and baking mixes (for instance, those made by celebrity chefs or famous bakeries)--yay or nay? IF IT TASTES GOOD!
3- Salted caramel: totally sweet or way too...salty? TOTALLY SWEET!
4-Cupcake shops opening everywhere: enough is enough, or room for more? THEY SEEM SO LIMITED...
5- French macarons: delicate delight, or way overhyped? NEVER HAD ONE!
6- Chilling dough for perfect cookies: is it worth the wait? YES!!!
7- Savory cupcakes (for instance, meat loaf cupcake with mashed potato frosting): yum or yuck? YUCK YUCK and TRIPLE YUCK!
8- Whoopie pies as the next big thing: do you agree? NEVER LIKED THEM

March 26 | Unregistered Commenterpat sloan

#1 - Bacon in baked goods: so good or so over? Perhaps over, but I love bacon chocolate bars...over for baked goods, still good for candy.

#2 - "Designer" cake and baking mixes (for instance, those made by celebrity chefs or famous bakeries)--yay or nay? Interesting, but I probably wouldn't use them. Nay.

#3 - Salted caramel: totally sweet or way too...salty? Totally sweet! I love it!

#4 - Cupcake shops opening everywhere: enough is enough, or room for more? As long as there's enough variation and new flavors, the more, the merrier!

#5 - French macarons: delicate delight, or way overhyped? I still haven't had one, so I can't judge. :(

#6 - Chilling dough for perfect cookies: is it worth the wait? Never. As soon as that bag of chocolate chips comes out, those cookies need to be done right away, or I'm eating the chips by the handful.

#7 - Savory cupcakes (for instance, meat loaf cupcake with mashed potato frosting): yum or yuck? Yuck. Too weird. I want my sweets to actually be sweet.

#8 - Whoopie pies as the next big thing: do you agree? Again, never had one, but I'd like to try one. They look tasty!

Bacon in baked goods: so good or so over?
So Good!! Love bacon, and it often offsets sweetness!

"Designer" cake and baking mixes (for instance, those made by celebrity chefs or famous bakeries)--yay or nay?
Nay!...don't they have enough money?

Salted caramel: totally sweet or way too...salty?
Love salt...so love it!!

Cupcake shops opening everywhere: enough is enough, or room for more?
If you make them, people will buy them. They are less commitment than a whole cake...so very popular even in tough times.

French macarons: delicate delight, or way overhyped?
Delicate Delight...if you say otherwise, its probably cause you've never actually had one.

Chilling dough for perfect cookies: is it worth the wait?
Totally worth it...

Savory cupcakes (for instance, meat loaf cupcake with mashed potato frosting): yum or yuck?
Sounds like yuck, but never had one so hard to say, could be delish.

Whoopie pies as the next big thing: do you agree?
Probably not...although popular, they won't overcome the cupcake craze!

1. Bacon in baked goods: so good or so over?

So over! Sweet-salty may be good, but let's stick to salted caramel--yay vegetarian friendly!

"Designer" cake and baking mixes (for instance, those made by celebrity chefs or famous bakeries)--yay or nay?

Nay! Make cake from scratch. More fun and when it's homemade the stick or two of butter and cup or so of sugar don't count (as much).

Salted caramel: totally sweet or way too...salty?

Totally sweet (see above). It's all about the dance of the flavors.

Cupcake shops opening everywhere: enough is enough, or room for more?

Room for more! Makes me want to open one each time I read about them. Although I might opt for a pie shop instead (mmm, pie! I like pie!)

French macarons: delicate delight, or way overhyped?

Overhyped. Good, but not that good.

Chilling dough for perfect cookies: is it worth the wait?

I always forget this part when reading recipes, stick the dough in the freezer in impatience and have hard to work with dough. Worth it, but such a pain.

Savory cupcakes (for instance, meat loaf cupcake with mashed potato frosting): yum or yuck?

YUCK. Yuck. yuck.

Whoopie pies as the next big thing: do you agree?

Eh, they seem popular enough to hit it big, but don't expect me to get excited.

March 27 | Unregistered CommenterKathryn E.

1) SO OVER or never was in my case.
2) Nope - if they can make the mix, I can make it from scratch.
3)Love salted carmel!
4)They're cute, but enough.
5)Never had a "french" one, but anything french must be decidant.
6)worth the wait
7)GROSS!
8)YES!!!!

March 27 | Unregistered CommenterAmy A

1. So over, but mostly cause I'm veggie so I don't eat it.
2. Sure why not :)
3. Never tried it, but I'm willing to!
4. There's always room for more! Especially here in Israel (we don't have any that I know of...)
5. Delicate delight
6. Definitely worth the wait!
7. Could be yum, but it really depends on what it's made of...
8. Not necessarily the biggest, but definitely on the top
