Simply Irresistible with Sarah Michelle Geller is a good food movie. Sure, it's a bit cheesy, but I like the idea that good food can change the mood of the person eating it.
My favorite food-in-movie scene is in Annie Hall, when Woody Allen and Diane Keaton are trying to get lobsters into a pot for dinner. The lobsters are getting on the floor, crawling behind the fridge, Woody Allen is afraid to touch them and Diane Keaton is taking photos of the whole thing. <3.
I am thinking of Audrey Tautou eating creme brulee in Amelie Poulain... The childish way of breaking the caramel crust with the back of a spoom...
I absolutely love any pie scene in Waitress! It is so funny and awesome how she will just sit and think up ingredients to pie like "i-Don't-Want-Earl's-Baby Pie"

Any of the wedding scenes in Because I Said So. Those cakes are incredible and I completely understand why the characters can't resist a little swipe of frosting each time!
I love the armadillo wedding cake from Steel Magnolias - and how Shirley MacLaine serves him the armadillo's rear end! Classic movie moment...
I would have to say the magically appearing feasts in Harry Potter are my favorite. Also, no dishes after when the foods just dissapears!
Serendipity when the magic steam turns all to a dream sequence.
In No Reservations when the customer is pissed off about his steak not being "rare" and Catherine Zeta Jones throws a raw steak on his plate!! Also when Aaron Eckhart comes over to cook pancakes with them... so cute... so handsome when a man can cook... sigh... love pancakes!!!
Cecily, I swear I'm not stealing your post, but I was totally going to say Waitress, too.
I love the pie scenes and the way they are shot... makes pie-making look so easy!
Ratatouille--omg!
Also, Willy Wonka in the Chocolate Factory...the candy room looks entirely amazing!!
Also--the spaghetti in Patch Adams, where people got to swin in it. After seeing that, I always wanted to do it myself. =) (Granted it's not meant for eating but... food is for playing too!)
Drinks count as food, don't they? The raspberry cordial scene in Anne of Green Gables is absolutely classic.
I like the part in When Harry met Sally, just after the fake orgasm, when she takes a bite of her salad as if she's just made a point(but not possibly embarrassed the hell out of herself).
ANY food scene in any of the Harry Potter movies. The Great Hall food just always looks so good.
Oh, so many! The very first few I thought of aren't so much food moments as food-related quotes. My all time favorite movie quote: Dirty Dancing. "I carried a watermelon."
Also, Stranger than Fiction has this great quote: "Sometimes, when we lose ourselves in fear and despair, in routine and constancy, in hopelessness and tragedy, we can thank God for Bavarian sugar cookies."
But, my favorite food scene ever is in the first Harry Potter movie, when Harry finally has money to purchase candy for the first time in his life, and he and his newfound best friend gorge themselves on every kind of candy he can buy.
Oh I have many movies to add to my Netflix list after reading the other posts. The one scene that popped into my mind when I read the contest was from Lady and the Tramp eating spaghetti. It is one of my earliest food movie memories.
I adore the scene in Ratatouille when Remy is controlling Linguini through pulling his hair and teaching him how to cook! :)
Honestly, one of my favorite food in movies scenes is in the movie Pecker, when his little sister Crissy is standing on the counter in the middle of the night, eating raw sugar out of the bag. I'm pretty sure it's the point of the scene, but I'm always reminded of various "braaaiiins" scenes in zombie flicks.
It's a scene in the extended version of "Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring" when they are given the lembas bread by the elves. Legolas does the funniest "Lembas commerical" as Orlando Bloom called it in the commentary, where he grabs a piece and says so cheesily "Lembas! One small bite fills the stomach of a full-grown man!" It cracks me up every time.
The opening scene (well most of the movie, but especially the opening scene) in the Taiwanese film directed by Ang Lee (yǐn shí nán nǚ) or Eat Drink Man Woman. The way it was filmed – cutting seamlessly between professional chef’s hands and the actor – is so amazing to watch and the amount of fresh ingredients and effort that goes into the numerous dishes is fantastic. It is a great foodie movie. Here is a youtube link to the opening of the movie so you can see what I mean. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zs5WiddD7i0
Hitch, the scene where he's on the date and he eats seafood and his face blows up like a shrimp! Hilarious! Not as romantic...but from a TV show--the Cosby Show the episode where it was Claire's birthday and Cliff bought her 3 of the same cake and brought them out one at a time to mood music! One of my favorite scenes of all time!
In "Because I Said So" with Mandy Moore and Diane Keaton I LOVE all the cakes that come out of Diane's shop! And her 50's-era skirts.
I guess because it's the holidays and I have all those movies on my mind, I think of A Christmas Story. The whole build up of the turkey, just to have it destroyed by Bumpas dogs. Then the introduction to Chinese turkey... Classic!
I like the scene in No Reservations when Catherine Zeta Jones is at a loss as a professional chef on what to cook for her niece. Then her sous chef makes spaghetti and wins the child over.
I have to say I love the feast scene in the first Harry Potter movie. I wish food would just appear out of no where like that for me!
