Cake Poll: Favorite Christmas Cookies and a Huge Wilton Cookie Exchange Giveaway!
So, check it. Several weeks ago I received an email from Wilton asking if I'd like to check out their new book, Wilton Cookie Exchange--a collection of ideas and recipes for creative Christmas cookies, with plenty of cookie-exchange party ideas. Um, of course I would like to check it out. And to my surprise and delight, about a week later, I received a package--with not only the book, but a veritable truckload of sweet cookie swap schwag--from cookie cutters to decorating gel and sprinkles, to parchment paper and decorative boxes, and even invites--so that I could host my own cookie exchange party. Yes! And so I did. Here are just a few of the cookies people brought:
Pretty much, it was the awesomest holiday party ever, with dozens and dozens of beautiful cookies and great company.
And you know what? You too can experience this cookie nirvana. Wilton has very generously offered to donate the works--the cookie exchange book and comprehensive party package, including what by my estimation tops over $100 worth of cookie decorating and party products--to one lucky CakeSpy reader.
How do you enter yourself to win? It's totally easy. All you have to do is leave a comment saying what your favorite Christmas cookie is (while not necessary, please do feel free to link to a recipe!) in the comments section below. But enter soon: the Cake Poll will close at 12PM PST on Tuesday, December 8, and one winner will be chosen at random. US entrants only this time, please. Good luck!

UPDATE: The Winner! The winner, chosen at random, is Mandy from Wisconsin! The prize has been received and she reports that she will be hosting a cookie party this weekend! (By the way, her favorite cookie? "Mexican Wedding Cakes/Swedish Teacakes, or whatever you like to call them. Ground pecans, and double-dipped in powdered sugar! Very strong memories of home and baking cookies with my mother.")

Amazing giveaway! I love peanut blossoms and oreo balls! http://www.howsweeteats.com/2009/11/29/oreo-balls/
My favorite Christmas cookies are sugar cookies decorated with royal icing...and I'm baking some right now!
Oh man, there is one recipe I pulled out of a magazine years and years ago & made with my mom. They were called Lincoln Logs, and they were maple cookie "logs" with maple frosting. I still pull out the recipe every year and make them -- I can't help but eat whole batches by myself it feels like. They are incredible. This year my mom made thumbprint cookies with the recipe & popped caramel-filled Hersey's kisses on top. So delicious!
yum! I love these blissful cranberry cookies at christmas!

I just love plain decorated sugar cookies with TONS of sprinkles!
my fav holiday cookies are macaroons. my mom made them every year while i was growing up and put them in little packages to give as christmas presents. she would dip the side in chocolate, and they were truly excellent. as an adult, i love to put lemon zest in them.
Russian Tea Cookies are my fav :-)
My favorite holiday cookies are Almond Crescents or Russian Tea Cakes (pretty much the same ingredients, different shape!) Yummy...and yes, please enter me in the sweepstakes? Thanks Cakespy!
i keep it simple. i just love a good chocolate chip cookie!
I love sugar cookies - the Ethel's Sugar Cookie recipe from the Betty Crocker Cooky Cook. It's the best!

Brunkager! They're these spiced crispy Danish cookies that just feel so cozy. I'll have to find my recipe to post it here :)
To me, nothing beats a decorated cut out sugar cookie for the holidays.
Thanks Cakespy and Wilton. This is a really cool giveaway!!
Both are recipes from my mom and grandma, the first being your traditional snowball/Mexican wedding cake/Russian teacake (YUM!):
http://www.jonesing-for.com/2009/12/snowballs-mexican-wedding-cakes/
The second being a traditional Polish fried cookie called a chrusciki. They're supposed to look like angel wings but they're basically fried pieces of dough dusted with powdered sugar, and yes, they're just as awesome as they sound!
Yeah giveaway!
My grandmother would make Cathedral Cookies - a chocolate fudge cookie filled with multi-colored marshmallows. A plate of those cookies is Christmas to me.
Cream Wafers from Better Crocker's Cooky Book. My gramma makes the best ones and I can't ever get enough.
My friend Minda makes these delicious peppermint chocolate cookies every year and gives them out for Christmas, and they are amazing! <3
Mexican cookies!
my favorite for a cookie exchange is a nanaimo bar from British Columbia Canada! yum
I always crave the vintage cookies my Grandma Eula always made (a little sweet and a little old fashioned, just like her!)
Haystacks (chocolate or butterscotch covered chow mein noodle clusters) and Buckeyes (chocolate dipped peanut butter balls)
Dated I know, but great texture and classic flavors.
Cheers! - Kiki
Just love you! The rubber stamps are so cute! I like peppermint cookies pressed through a cookie press (star tip) with a tad of red food coloring for the stripe effect. Then dip the end in white chocolate and then crushed peppermint candies! Yummy!
Spicy ginger-molasses cookies! I don't have a link to my recipe, but I'll try to get that on the blog before Christmas.
My fingers will remain crossed until you announce the winner!
This is by far my favorite Christmas cookie (it's a light sugar cookie):
