Cake Poll: Favorite Christmas Cookies and a Huge Wilton Cookie Exchange Giveaway!
So, check it. Several weeks ago I received an email from Wilton asking if I'd like to check out their new book, Wilton Cookie Exchange--a collection of ideas and recipes for creative Christmas cookies, with plenty of cookie-exchange party ideas. Um, of course I would like to check it out. And to my surprise and delight, about a week later, I received a package--with not only the book, but a veritable truckload of sweet cookie swap schwag--from cookie cutters to decorating gel and sprinkles, to parchment paper and decorative boxes, and even invites--so that I could host my own cookie exchange party. Yes! And so I did. Here are just a few of the cookies people brought:
Pretty much, it was the awesomest holiday party ever, with dozens and dozens of beautiful cookies and great company.
And you know what? You too can experience this cookie nirvana. Wilton has very generously offered to donate the works--the cookie exchange book and comprehensive party package, including what by my estimation tops over $100 worth of cookie decorating and party products--to one lucky CakeSpy reader.
How do you enter yourself to win? It's totally easy. All you have to do is leave a comment saying what your favorite Christmas cookie is (while not necessary, please do feel free to link to a recipe!) in the comments section below. But enter soon: the Cake Poll will close at 12PM PST on Tuesday, December 8, and one winner will be chosen at random. US entrants only this time, please. Good luck!

UPDATE: The Winner! The winner, chosen at random, is Mandy from Wisconsin! The prize has been received and she reports that she will be hosting a cookie party this weekend! (By the way, her favorite cookie? "Mexican Wedding Cakes/Swedish Teacakes, or whatever you like to call them. Ground pecans, and double-dipped in powdered sugar! Very strong memories of home and baking cookies with my mother.")

Awesome giveaway! My favorite Christmas cookie is actually a tea cake!
Here is a recipe: http://www.cooks.com/rec/doc/0,1932,159175-227197,00.html
Mmm, cookies. My favorites would have to be mint chocolate chip with a healthy dose of Bailey's in the mix. Makes everything a little more bearable. :)
I love classic gingerbread! Something soft, chewy, and spiced with a cup of tea... Mmm!

Coming from a weak and barely existent Greek heritage wherein the only relation I have to greek heritage is through food. Kourambiedes are easily my favourite holiday cookie.
gingersnaps! ahhh i love that smell so much. it's totally that time of year again.
My favorite Christmas cookies are plain sugar cookies with vanilla frosting. Can't wait to make them this year!
A few weeks ago I made the softest gingersnaps ever. They were so tasty! Those are my favorite for this year.
My favorites are these skillet cookies my mom makes. I call them snowballs because they are rolled in coconut. They have chopped dates, rice krispies and corn flakes in them - you cook them on the stove top with sugar, eggs and butter - roll them into balls and then in the coconut. Yummy!

Monster Cookies! Oatmeal + chocolate chips + peanuts + m&ms + butterscotch chips = one fantastic cookie experience. Even better with festive red and green m&ms.
My favorite Christmas cookies are Molasses Ginger Cookies.

My all time favorite cookies for the holidays are Holly Cookies. Because I believe that if you don't make a mess you are truly not baking!

There are two favorites: one is spritz cookies - the ones you make into christmas tree and wreath shapes. The second are these italian cookies. My family has been making these for years and I was so tickled to come across the recipe on the Noble Pig.

Whoopie Pies!!
Great giveaway.
My favorites are definitely gingerbread (so seasonal!) and peanut butter cookies (which are delicious all the time).
Our favorite is Mexican wedding cookies, my family in the east calls them snowballs. They arent too sweet and are just the right size to pop in and eat which makes them addictive. I also love making ohio buckeyes which are great.
Aah! This might be the best giveaway yet. I LOVE Christmas, and cookies are one of the most delicious parts about it :) My favorites are too many to list, but here's one of them! They are simple, delicious, and remind me of thumbprint cookies but a bit more festive http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/food-network-kitchens/swedish-christmas-cookies-recipe2/index.html
My favorite cookie is the good-ole chocolate chip; however, last year I was inspired to make the Jell-O pastels http://www.kraftfoods.com/kf/recipes/jell-o-pastel-cookies-53328.aspx
My grandkids LOVED these and they smelled great baking. I'll be making again.
My favorite are linzers! yum :)

I love the basic sugar cookies. Simple and perfect.
Oh geez, how do I choose a favorite! I like them all. I have to say my favorite would be these orange butter cookies my mom makes or these cathedral cookies she makes with marshmellows + chocolate. They remind me of Christmas time.

How exciting! I'm most partial to a bit of shortbread, or dorie greenspans world peace cookies, but if I ever manage to replicate a chocolate hobnob then I'm in trouble!!
For nostalgia's sake, I love the roll and cut sugar cookies that my mom and I always make when we're together at Christmas - makes me feel like I'm a kid again! But the new favorite in recent years has to be white chocolate chip cranberry cookies - soooo good!
