Cake Poll: Favorite Christmas Cookies and a Huge Wilton Cookie Exchange Giveaway!
So, check it. Several weeks ago I received an email from Wilton asking if I'd like to check out their new book, Wilton Cookie Exchange--a collection of ideas and recipes for creative Christmas cookies, with plenty of cookie-exchange party ideas. Um, of course I would like to check it out. And to my surprise and delight, about a week later, I received a package--with not only the book, but a veritable truckload of sweet cookie swap schwag--from cookie cutters to decorating gel and sprinkles, to parchment paper and decorative boxes, and even invites--so that I could host my own cookie exchange party. Yes! And so I did. Here are just a few of the cookies people brought:
Pretty much, it was the awesomest holiday party ever, with dozens and dozens of beautiful cookies and great company.
And you know what? You too can experience this cookie nirvana. Wilton has very generously offered to donate the works--the cookie exchange book and comprehensive party package, including what by my estimation tops over $100 worth of cookie decorating and party products--to one lucky CakeSpy reader.
How do you enter yourself to win? It's totally easy. All you have to do is leave a comment saying what your favorite Christmas cookie is (while not necessary, please do feel free to link to a recipe!) in the comments section below. But enter soon: the Cake Poll will close at 12PM PST on Tuesday, December 8, and one winner will be chosen at random. US entrants only this time, please. Good luck!

UPDATE: The Winner! The winner, chosen at random, is Mandy from Wisconsin! The prize has been received and she reports that she will be hosting a cookie party this weekend! (By the way, her favorite cookie? "Mexican Wedding Cakes/Swedish Teacakes, or whatever you like to call them. Ground pecans, and double-dipped in powdered sugar! Very strong memories of home and baking cookies with my mother.")

I've always loved decorating sugar cookies with my mom, but I've never really cared for the taste. Then one year, my mom unearthed a Chocolate-Covered Cookie recipe with an amazing, crumbly crust. We've been decorating those ever since! They are definitely my favorites!
I love preacher cookies (no bakes), sugar cookies and peanut-butter balls!
Those pretzel-dreidels (chocolate covered marshmallows) are out of this world! I'm Jewish, but I always marvel at any Christmas cookies that appear to be dredged in sugary glitter. Maybe some Christmas cookie exchanges might be shaken up with mandel bread, which is not bread but rather a traditional Jewish cookie that's like biscotti but not quite so hard or dry. This recipe is close to what I grew up with: http://tinyurl.com/yg6lder. Cinnamon babka is a terrific back-up if you're looking for something a little different...and delicious!
My favorites are sugar cookies. When I was little, my mom would always make them with us kids and we would get to decorate them. So part of liking them is the memories I have.

i just love myself a gingerbread man
Peanut butter blossuoms, just like my grandmother made.
My favorite christmas cookie is a thin crispy one that is made with powdered sugar and oil. It melts in your mouth. I love them!
I Loveeee nutrolls. Which sound bad. But are amazing and very addictive.
I have two favorite christmas cookies, pizzelles and Tollhouse chocolate chip cookies (recipe on the bag).

Gingerbread people! Even though I don't think they taste great, I just love the festive-ness.
One? You want me to pick one? Well, lately the one cookie I get requests to make is a Mexican Chocolate Cookie. I don't have a link but imagine the cookie part of an oreo with some pepper in it for kick.
For me, my favorite are the little green Christmas tree spritz that my grandmother makes.
Wow, thanks for this giveaway! I think my fav christmas cookie is cutouts, though I hate making them.
My favorite cookies to eat are pignoli cookies. My favorite cookies to make are "Christmas cookies"- sugar cookie cut-outs decorated with frosting, sprinkles, and gum drops. My favorite cookies to give are a version of snickerdoodles, but instead of rolling them in cinnamon and sugar, I roll them in crystal sprinkles. I choose different colors for different occasions/seasons, theyre so fun and remind me of yummy little jewels!
Ahhh I LOVE cookies!!!!

My favorite Christmas cookies are shortbread cookies. We roll the shortbread into balls and dip them in red and green sprinkles then flatten them with a fork. They melt in your mouth!
I love to do the roll-out sugar cookies. The grandkids have fun helping with making and eating them!
I love Christmas Sugar cookies.

My grandmother makes huge batches of her christmas cookies every year and mails them to employees, family and friends around the state. This year since Hurricane Ike hit her home I think she wont be able to make some this year. I'm hoping to score some kitchen time and encourage her to make at least one small batch of her homemade sugar cookies (lard and all) with homemade icing and tons of different sprinkles.
inside-out oreos (aka oreo truffles) are my favorite!
Hands down, my favourite Christmas cookie is my mothers version of the sugar cookie candy canes. She always used vanilla and peppermint extract in place of the almond extract. And she coated them in finely crushed Spangler brand candy canes.
Still my favourite!
My favorite is a thumbprint cookie filled with icing from my grandma's recipe. Delish!
Pfeffernüsse!
I'm a sucker for Snowballs. Simple and delicious.
I love Chocolate Snowtop Cookies, but last year I tried Chocolate MINT Snowtop Cookies. Going to bake those again this year! Here's a link: http://www.recipezaar.com/Chocolate-Mint-Snow-Top-Cookies-340108" rel="nofollow">http://www.recipezaar.com/Chocolate-Mint-Snow-Top-Cookies-340108
I have two favorites- I love the cut-out sugar cookies with royal icing. They look the prettiest when decorated and since decorating is kinda my thing...I always make them. However, I believe the tastiest ones are my Nana's vanilla sugar cookies. They are always soft and very very vanilla-y with sugar sprinkled on top! :-) They are the best tasting sugar cookies I've ever had- even (admittedly) better than my own that I love to decorate!
Czeckoslavakian Moonbeams!!
