I'm really not adenturous when it comes to cupcake. I'm always worried I will be disappointed with my choice so I play it safe with something that I know I love.
I love red velvet cupcakes! I know its not an unusual flavor but those are my favorite! I would but for trying different flavors - I just havent had a chance to make any, plus we dont have many bakeries that do cupcakes around me.
The craziest cupcake flavor I have tried is maple and bacon. Actually, quite delicious! But unfortunately, there is only one cupcake shop within a 60+ mile radius so I don't get to try many :(
Maple Bacon. Intense, but delicious!
a friend of mine routinely makes a lovely cardamom cupcake with a honey-cream cheese frosting. They aren't crazy unusual, but they are delightful.
The Bleeding Heart Bakery in Chicago comes out with new cupcake flavors each month and one of them for this month is called the Thanksgiving cupcake and its a sweet potato cupcake, filled w/pralines topped w/ cranberry relish, and toasted marshmallow... To me it sounds like a crazy combination and I'm curious to try it!!

I had a Mojito Cupcake with a Rum Soaked, Vanilla, Lime cupcake, with a Fresh Mint and Sugar Cane Creamy Frosting. Very unique and delicious.!
It's not that unusual, but salted carmel is the most unusual I've ever had.
I would love to try any kind of bacon flavor. Unfortunately, all I can get around here is standard cupcakes. Cute shop, I loved the cupcake plates and pedestals!
Zucchini chocolate chip cupcakes with cinnamon buttercream...yummy
I am going with Chai Tea - which sounded strange but was truly wonderful!
I've never had any weird cupcake flavors, but I think it'd be neat to try a margarita cupcake.
Not too many wacky cupcake combos my way . . . not too many cupcake shops, either :(
I stick to pretty simple cupcakes usually, so the most adventurous I've gotten is ginger-lime with lime/cardamom icing.
But I'd love to try a something spicy-sweet, like the second poster mentioned, a Mexican hot-cocoa chocolate cupcake with cayenne 'n cinnamon frosting.
Or given the amazing ability of ground black pepper to pep up an apple pie (pun intended, sorry), I'd dive into some sort of black pepper-apple cupcake with maybe a creamcheese frosting. (and fresh pepper ground on top!)
Nacho cupcakes!!
Some of these sound fantastic
Peanut butter and jelly cupcakes! Takes you back to kindergarten. Yum!
lavender red velvet.
they were pretty awesome.
I haven't had anything particularly strange, but I guess the most unique would be either peanut butter and jelly or vanilla cupcakes filled with cookie dough.
Mahhhgarita cupcake. DELICIOUS!
I've always wanted to try a smore's cupcake! It's on my list and i hope to get to it very soon!!
I haven't tried any of the unusual flavours in the world, but I must say, I'd love to try a flavour that involves bacon. My mind still has trouble grasping the concept of bacon in sweets.
I love to make unusual cupcakes - My weirdest flavor combo may be my "Mikey Likes" cupcake, which is a Coca-Cola cupcake with Pop Rocks frosting. I am lucky to have very nice friends who are willing to try anything!
Horchata and Mojito cupcakes
I actually tried the tomato soup cupcake...more like a spice cake.
I love trying unusually flavored foods. Unfortunately, I haven't had any odd flavored cupcakes. If I could choose any to try, it would have to include bacon. I LOVE the combination of salty and sweet, and bacon makes everything better!
