Cake Poll: Fall Treats!

October Cakespy Giveaway!

Sure, the days are getting shorter and cooler, but they're also getting sweeter. Halloween is just around the corner, a sweet kickoff to what promises to be a fall and winter full of pies, puddings and wonderful holiday treats.
And in celebration of all of this sweetness, this month's Cake Poll focuses on fall treats! The lucky winner will receive an original Cakespy watercolor depicting L'il Cuppie being chased by ghosts (pictured top)--looks like they didn't want to share their candy!

How do you enter? Just answer the below questions to be entered in the running! Responses may be entered in the comments section or emailed to jessieoleson@gmail.com.

  • Which do you prefer: candy corn or mellowcreme pumpkins?
  • Fun-size candy bars: do they make you happy or leave you hungry?
  • Trick-or-treaters without costumes: give 'em candy anyway, or turn 'em away?
  • Halloween candy-eating method: eat it as fast as you can, or ration it out to last?
  • Favorite cold-weather beverage: hot apple cider or hot chocolate?
  • Fall pie faceoff: apple or pumpkin?

The fine print: The poll will be closed at 12 p.m PST on Friday, October 17. As usual, the winner will be chosen at random. Entries from the US and beyond are welcome. Your info will never be shared and these questions are solely motivated by our nosy spy tendencies.

....and we have a winner! Our winner was JEAN from New Jersey! Jean entered in our comments section and most definitely prefers Candy Corn! While Mellowcreme Pumpkin may not approve, we were more than happy to see the piece of artwork go to such a sweet home!

Missed the first one. :( but my answer is candy corn.

October 11 | Unregistered Commenterslush

1. Candy corn
2. Happy :)
3. Give em candy anyways
4. Ration it
5. Hot (spiked_ apple cider
6. Both

October 11 | Unregistered CommenterJen

Candy corn. I'm weird, I like to eat the white, then the yellow and then the orange.

Fun-size candy bars leave me hungry so I tend to eat a couple. I have the hips to prove it.

By 8:00 or so the older kids come out who are not dressed up so I turn off all of the lights and pretend we're not home once the little kids are in bed.

What's rationing? Oh, you mean hiding the good stuff from the kids? Then yes, I ration. :)

Hot apple cider or hot chocolate? I like them both but hot chocolate is better.

Apple pie is the best, pumpkin is too custard-y. Now apple pie with cheddar cheese or a la mode, that's a toughie....

October 11 | Unregistered CommenterSara

1. Both candy corn and mellowcreme pumpkins
2. Fun size candy bars make me happy
3. Turn away trick or treaters without costumes
4. Ration out candy
5. Hot apple cider
6. Pumpkin pie

# Which do you prefer: candy corn or mellowcreme pumpkins? Candy corn. The pumpkins are like marshmellows gone bad.

# Fun-size candy bars: do they make you happy or leave you hungry?
I presume you mean the little hand-out size? Depends. The dark chocolate ones are just the right size...

# Trick-or-treaters without costumes: give 'em candy anyway, or turn 'em away?
Give 'em candy anyway, but let them know you're sure they'll do better next year.

# Halloween candy-eating method: eat it as fast as you can, or ration it out to last?
Ration it out. That stuff won't go bad for months.

# Favorite cold-weather beverage: hot apple cider or hot chocolate?
strong hot tea!

# Fall pie faceoff: apple or pumpkin?
Pumplin, hands down. Nothing like the cinnamony goodness with whipped creme.

October 11 | Unregistered CommenterMo

Candy corn or mellowcreme pumpkins: Candy corn. I had no idea those pumpkins were called mellowcreme, but I think I know what you're talking about and they're kind of weird.

Fun-size candy bars: Not a problem! Snickers are my fave.

Trick-or-treaters without costumes: I don't think I've ever come across this phenomenon. If they're making the effort to knock on your door, I say give them candy.

Halloween candy-eating method: I used to allow myself a certain number of candies each day to make them last as long as possible.

Favorite cold-weather beverage: Hot chocolate for sure. (But apple cider is good too.)

Fall pie faceoff: Apple wins, although I could make a strong case for pumpkin with whipped cream.

October 11 | Unregistered CommenterHippy Goodwife

Pumpkins all the way! Love them!

Fun-sized candy makes me happy--but so does any sugar at all. My husband is often my candy moderator..

If the kid can come of with something real quick, give him the candy. Otherwise...

Ration the chocolate and trash all the rest.

Apple cider. And hot chocolate...one in each hand. :)

Pumpkin is the ultimate holiday pie. Apple is better in the summer.

3. We rarely get any trick or treaters here (australia) but the boyfriend insists on buying a packet of lollies just in case
4. Usually consists of eating the aforementioned packet of lollies that night!
5. Definately hot chocolate... hot apple cider sounds a bit wrong
6. We don't have pumpkin pie here, but it sounds delicious so I think I may have to get a recipe and make some
