Cake Poll: Fall Treats!

October Cakespy Giveaway!

Sure, the days are getting shorter and cooler, but they're also getting sweeter. Halloween is just around the corner, a sweet kickoff to what promises to be a fall and winter full of pies, puddings and wonderful holiday treats.
And in celebration of all of this sweetness, this month's Cake Poll focuses on fall treats! The lucky winner will receive an original Cakespy watercolor depicting L'il Cuppie being chased by ghosts (pictured top)--looks like they didn't want to share their candy!

How do you enter? Just answer the below questions to be entered in the running! Responses may be entered in the comments section or emailed to jessieoleson@gmail.com.

  • Which do you prefer: candy corn or mellowcreme pumpkins?
  • Fun-size candy bars: do they make you happy or leave you hungry?
  • Trick-or-treaters without costumes: give 'em candy anyway, or turn 'em away?
  • Halloween candy-eating method: eat it as fast as you can, or ration it out to last?
  • Favorite cold-weather beverage: hot apple cider or hot chocolate?
  • Fall pie faceoff: apple or pumpkin?

The fine print: The poll will be closed at 12 p.m PST on Friday, October 17. As usual, the winner will be chosen at random. Entries from the US and beyond are welcome. Your info will never be shared and these questions are solely motivated by our nosy spy tendencies.

....and we have a winner! Our winner was JEAN from New Jersey! Jean entered in our comments section and most definitely prefers Candy Corn! While Mellowcreme Pumpkin may not approve, we were more than happy to see the piece of artwork go to such a sweet home!

How could you not love little pumpkin-shaped sugar bombs?

Fun-size candy bars: do they make you happy or leave you hungry?
If they were actually fun, we wouldn't have to call them that.

All children deserve a cavity, regardless of ability to make said costume (i.e., Charlie Brown in the Great Pumpkin...poor kid.)

Halloween candy-eating method: eat it as fast as you can, or ration it out to last?
The really good stuff gets rationed...the rest gets eaten until waves of nausea break over you and other said trick-or-treaters

APPLE CIDER!!!

Fall pie faceoff: apple or pumpkin?
Both, because my boyfriend will eat the entire pumpkin pie while I'm making my way through my first slice of apple.

Candy corn.
Fun size candy bars: Make me happy :]
Trick-or-treaters without costumes: We never have any trick-or-treaters period. I'd give it to anyone!
Eating method: Ration it to last. And hide it from everyone else in the house:]
Favorite cold-weater beverage: Hot apple cider during the fall, hot chocolate in the winter.
Pie: Both so yummy, but pumpkin is the best, hands down.

October 12 | Unregistered CommenterGabby

I've never had mallowcreme pumpkins, but I hate candy corn, so they win by default.

Fun size is fine by me.

Early in the night, I demand costumes, but as it gets later and I have a huge heap of candy left, I give it to anyone.

I try to ration, but it never works.

Hot cider!

Apple pie, baby!

Ration it out.

Hot Chocolate YUM!

Apple for sure!!!

# Which do you prefer: candy corn or mellowcreme pumpkins? Actually, neither...but if I was stranded, I would go for the candy corn.

# Fun-size candy bars: do they make you happy or leave you hungry? More please!
]
# Trick-or-treaters without costumes: give 'em candy anyway, or turn 'em away? Depends on how big they are and if they have eggs and soap in those bags!

# Halloween candy-eating method: eat it as fast as you can, or ration it out to last? Divide into categories of valuable vs. garbage, convince my little brother that the valuable is the garbage and viceversa and then get him to trade. At least that worked in 1984!

# Favorite cold-weather beverage: hot apple cider or hot chocolate? Either if there is a little hooch involved. :-)

# Fall pie faceoff: apple or pumpkin? Pumpkin ALL the way!

The picture is so cute, reminded me of Charlie Brown for some strange reason.

Eat it all up fast, the good stuff anyway!!!

Favorite cold-weather beverage: hot apple cider or hot chocolate?

mellowcreme pumpkins

They only make me happy if I eat about five.

Give 'em something crappy like Zagnuts or Bit o'Honeys

They don't call me Snarfy McSnarferton for nothing.

hot chocolate

1. Candy Corn
2. We give away full size bars. =) They are just about right.
3. No way - no costume = no candy
4. Ration it. I have chocolate in my fridge that is 3 years old. You never know when you'll need some and will be unable to get to the store.
5. Hot Chocolate (with marshmallows)
6. Pumpkin

# Which do you prefer: candy corn or mellowcreme pumpkins? - candy corn!

# Fun-size candy bars: do they make you happy or leave you hungry? - make me happy

# Trick-or-treaters without costumes: give 'em candy anyway, or turn 'em away? - Give 'em candy. I say every year I'm going to turn them away, but I just can't do it. I DO turn away the ones that try to come by twice (like the little boy who charmed me last year, with his "preacher" costume.)

# Halloween candy-eating method: eat it as fast as you can, or ration it out to last? - eat it as fast as you can

# Favorite cold-weather beverage: hot apple cider or hot chocolate?

# Fall pie faceoff: apple or pumpkin? - apple..no, pumpkin. No.. yeah, pumpkin.

Which do you prefer: candy corn or mellowcreme pumpkins? Candy corn definitely! I eat the white part first, then the yellow, then the orange. Thats the only way to eat them!!

Fun-size candy bars: do they make you happy or leave you hungry? They're such a tease! They leave me hungry! But they're definitely better than no candy bar!

Trick-or-treaters without costumes: give 'em candy anyway, or turn 'em away? Give them candy anyway. What if they're family is too poor to afford a costume?

Halloween candy-eating method: eat it as fast as you can, or ration it out to last? Eat as fast as you can!

Favorite cold-weather beverage: hot apple cider or hot chocolate? Definitely hot chocolate (with a little chambord never hurt)

Fall pie faceoff: apple or pumpkin? Definitely apple

Absolutely precious artwork Jessie...it's wonderful!
Hmmmmm...questio time
1. I guess candy corn (this is a very devil & deep sea choice for me)
2. Fun size definitely; less guilt!
3. Oooo with costumes, even a hat will do. They gotta feel that they've earned their treats! But would ever turn a soul away..
4.Ration,ration,ration...thankfully my kids learned this a long time ago!
5. Hot Apple Cider...thank you!!

Thanks for this Jessie. have a great 'fall' day!! Cheers Deeba

Which do you prefer: candy corn or mellowcreme pumpkins?
Definitely candy corn.

Fun-size candy bars: do they make you happy or leave you hungry?
Well, all the more excuse to eat one of each!

Trick-or-treaters without costumes: give 'em candy anyway, or turn 'em away?
This hasn't ever happened to me. I would probably give them candy because we never get as many trick or treaters as we plan for.

Halloween candy-eating method: eat it as fast as you can, or ration it out to last?
When my sisters and I were little we would play games with it, kind of like on Easter where you keep hiding it in eggs for weeks after.

Favorite cold-weather beverage: hot apple cider or hot chocolate?
Cider for fall and hot chocolate for winter. I mean, I have standards. The best hot chocolate recipe is the Wolfgang Puck one in the special features of THe Santa Clause. :)

Fall pie faceoff: apple or pumpkin?
Apple. Probably because my family still remembers the year my aunt forgot to add sugar to her pumpkin pie...

October 12 | Unregistered CommenterJenny

1) I LOVE candy corn!
2) They are just a big tease
3) I don't like to but I give them candy anyways
4) Ration it
5) Hot coco with lots of marshmellows
6) It is not fall without pumpkin pie with a dallop of cool whip!

October 12 | Unregistered CommenterKuma the Bear

1. Candy Corn!
2. Candy tease!
3. Give 'em candy anyway - Most of mine are those moms with bitty costumed babies..
4. Ration it out to last.. at least for the kidlet..
5. Hot Chocolate! particularly mint or cinnamon
6. pumpkin (but pecan is better)

October 12 | Unregistered Commentermikoserena

1. Candy corn
2. Leave me happy! It's all about portion control for this Weight Watcher!
3. Give candy anyway. If they had the guts to come to my door without a costume, they get something...not as much candy as the others though!
4. I don't do either. I buy enough to pass out and then bring the rest to work so I don't eat any of it.
5. Tough call...these days, I'm all about hot chocolate...have you seen the new Starbucks Signature Hot Chocolates?!
6. Apple pie!
