Cake Poll: Unusual Cupcake Flavors, and a Chance to Win a $50 Gift Certificate to Sweet Cuppin Cakes!

Sweet Cuppin Cakes Giveaway!
It's time for a totally sweet giveaway, dudes and dudettes.

Sweet Cuppin Cakes Bakery & Cupcakery Supplies has kindly offered up a $50 gift certificate to one lucky winner! I'm sure you'll have no trouble putting it to good use on cute cupcake and baking accessories: they've got some fantastic cupcake liners, sprinkles and other garnishes, and display items too!

How do you put yourself in the running? It's easy. Just answer the following question:

What is the most unusual cupcake flavor you've ever tasted?

Maple bacon? Chai cardamom? Bananas foster? There are all sorts of unusual cupcake flavor combinations out there--have you sampled any of them? Or if you haven't sampled any unusual flavors, are there any you've wanted to try?

You can enter yourself in the running for a $50 gift certificate to Sweet Cuppin Cakes by entering your response to the above question in the comments section below; you might want to browse their shop in the meantime! The cake poll will close at 12 p.m. PST on Friday, November 13, 2009. Good luck!

I have never tried an unusual flavored cupcake...just chocolate and vanilla...

I made cannoli flavored cupcakes once. They weren't bad, but to me, they didn't taste like cannoli. It was kind of a disappointment, really!

Someone served a margarita cupcake to me- it was wonderful. I asked for the recipe, still haven't gotten it!

I'd have to say the Red Bull ones I made, it almost tastes like caramel but...not.
In fact I took these to a car meet and I think some people ate at least 3-4 each after the initial "...YOU MADE CUPCAKES WITH RED BULL WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?!" reaction

I once had friend's cupcake that tasted like minty toothpaste. She was trying a new vegan recipe, replacing butter with applesauce.

It would be Red Velvet. They were not traditional colors though. They were for Halloween so it was orange cake and black frosting.

pomegranate and zuchini!

I think an egg nog cupcake would be good - with some sort of nutmeg buttercream frosting. also in summer a watermelon cupcake with a fresh strawberry frosting would be fun, esp with a fresh sliced strawberry on top!

wasabi carrot cupcake from my aunt!!! It was slightly spicy from the wasabi that provided a kick from the usual carrot cupcake. I love it!!!

Guiness cupcakes with a coffee ganache frosting...they were yummy and I don't like beer or coffee

I've made Maple Cupcakes with Maple Frosting & Coconut Lime Cupcakes with Lime Buttercream Frosting from Vegan Cupcakes Take Over The World by Isa Chandra Moskowitz & Terry Hope Romero. When I did I accidently switched the frostings on some so that was a weird but good taste.

I haven't tried anything unusual...I'm So boring! :) But how about a fruity-chocolatey-mint medaly in a cupcake! :) Your yogurt/ice cream sounded so good! - maybe in a cupcake it would be just as scrumptious?

I haven't really tried anything unusual lately, either. However, my friend made two tone cupcakes for her bf's birthday a few weeks ago. They were brownie on the bottom and yellow cake on the top. Then, they had a yummy cream cheese frosting. They were wonderful!

I haven't tried anything unusual. I did see a recipe for a wasabi cupcake.
I would like to try a chocolate cupcake with some heat like a chipotle or cayenne pepper.

Bacon cinnamon. Sounds like heaven to me.

Chai cupcakes at Sugarland in Chapel Hill, NC! It's such a wonderful place and you never know what flavor they'll have next! Always a tasty adventure!
