Maple bacon? Chai cardamom? Bananas foster? There are all sorts of unusual cupcake flavor combinations out there--have you sampled any of them? Or if you haven't sampled any unusual flavors, are there any you've wanted to try?

pumpkin cupcake with brown sugar maple frosting and salted pumpkin seeds.
sooo good
I'm trying a fig, honey, and ricotta cupcake in a few weeks...
the most unusual i've tried was a wasabi dark chocolate. it was scrumptious! i'd like to try a maple cupcake of some sort. i've never seen one before
I haven't had any wild flavors yet (one look at whatever has the most chocolate and I'm sold, haha) but they sound like fun. :) I'm a big fan of Japanese confections so I'd like to try a cupcake with a smooth anko filling, maybe some anko buttercream on top...

I have not had too many different kinds but I would like to try a cosmo cup cake.
I think I've played it safe as far as cupcakes go, so I've never had an "unusual" flavor but I have a recipe for a lemon meringue cupcake that I think will be VERY tasty!! :-)
I am a red velvet girl myself, but all the different bacon combos sound intriguing to me!

I would like to try a pimiento cheese cupcake!
Wow, after your question, I realized that I haven't really had any truly weird cupcake combination...maybe I should go make one...
I haven't tried any unusual cupcakes, but I would like to try one with Cayenne Pepper.
I've not had anything cool & crazy but I think a rum & coke type would be fabulous!
I've made pickle cupcakes with a citrus cream cheese frosting. The pickle cake was not as overwhelming as I exacted, and being a fanatic of the sweet gherkin, I kind-of loved them.
A few weeks ago, I made "yellow cake" cupcakes for a friend who is gluten-, sugar-, dairy-, and just about everything else- free. The cupcakes were made primarily from Northern Beans, and they were interesting to say the least! What I'd like to try are: apple pie cupcakes--anyone ever made them?
There is a little cupcake shop in our town. I've been there a few times. The best one I had was a Root Beer Float. Tasted just like the real deal!
I haven't really tried anything unusual yet - I just moved to a city with 2-3 cupcake bakeries. I'm looking forward to trying something with bacon. It sounds weird, but I understand the salty-sweet thing, so I'll give it a try.
Thanks for the giveaway!
ginger ale cupcakes!
I'm also pretty boring. When I want a cupcake, I want a good ol' fashioned one. I did make some margarita cupcakes though, and it was kind of fun to put tequila in the frosting!
So it might not be the most UNUSUAL, but it sure is creative! The Cosmo cupcake...has dried cranberries soaked in vodka and lime juice...with lime buttercream frosting...cocktails anyone?
I just want to have a good chocolate cupcake with buttercream frosting. nothing weird
Tried butterscotch strawberry, it was actually tasty. I think Chocolate butterscotch would be good.
In light of the holiday season, I would love to have a very spicy rum flavored cupcake (think nutmeg, clover, cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, and anise) with whipped frosting egg-nog flavored
I loved the Root Beer Float one from this summer! Dark Chocolate and Root Beer Cake with Root Beer Icing and Vanilla Buttercream Frosting!
Definitely a beer cupcake! Not so good as you can imagine.
I made champagne cupcakes that were delish! They had almond extract, sour cream and champagne glaze. Probably not the most unusual, but interesting nonetheless!
