Cake Poll: Oops, Make that a Cookie Poll!

Time for another poll!
It's that unique time of year that summer starts to fade into early fall; the skies are a piercing blue, days are getting shorter, and school's back in session. Even those who are long out of school are not impervious to the allure of this season, nostalgically recalling the excitement newness of a new school year, punctuated by freshly sharpened pencils and maybe a brand new trapper keeper. And what else goes better with back to school time than milk and cookies at the end of the day?

And so, this month our Cake Poll is not about cake, but rather cookies--and the winner will get the framed original painting, featuring Cuppie and Robot making cookies, featured above! Responses may be entered in the comments section or emailed to jessieoleson@gmail.com.

  1. What is your favorite type of cookie?
  2. Oatmeal Cookies: With raisins, or chocolate chips?
  3. Dunking your cookies: Deliciousness, or a soggy mess?
  4. Slice n' bake cookies: Guilty pleasure, or never ever?
  5. Jumbo bakery cookies: too much, or just enough?
  6. Bar cookies: are they really cookies, or a different category entirely?
  7. Which is better: Slightly underbaked or slightly overbaked?
  8. Eating cookie dough: so wrong, or so right?

The fine print: The poll will be closed at 2 p.m PST on Thursday, September 4 (we're leaving it open for a week since we hope many of you are avoiding your computers over the holiday weekend!). As usual, the winner will be chosen at random. Entries from the US and beyond are welcome. Your info will never be shared and these questions are solely motivated by our nosy spy tendencies. Of course, if you don't win, you can always buy Cakespy artwork and gear at jessieoleson.etsy.com!

Time for a new poll--and a new prize!

4.Fun to bake but not as fun to eat.
5. I like having something for later.
6.It depends on the bar.
7. Underbaked. Why is this a question?
8. Yum. I think chocolate chip dough is better than the baked form.

1:Oatmeal- with lots of pecan!
2:Neither! NUTS!
3: Dunk away
4:Slice n' bake cookies are sometimes necessary when you find that note from your kids school, you know the one, deep in the back pack- 60 cookies for tomorrow's bake sale?
5:Jumbo bakery cookies: too much
6:Bar cookies are not cookies- they're bars, squares...but not cookies!
7: Underbaked without a doubt.
8: So right, usually better than its cooked counterpart.

1. Freshly baked chewy gingerbread
2. Definitely choc chips
3. It really depends on the type of biscuit and drink. Gingernuts dunked in cold milk are very good!
4. I've never done it - if they're anything like most cake mixes I'd say never ever!
5. Jumbo anzac biscuits are the best, as when they're so big the middle is always nice and chewy.. mmmm!
6. I have no idea what a bar cookie is... maybe because that's because I'm from Australia!
7. Normally I'd go with slightly underbaked, but I have been known to enjoy the odd crunchy cookie
8. So so so right! Especially mixed in with ice cream!

September 3 | Unregistered CommenterEmma

1. Snickerdoodle

2. Raisins

3. Depends on the type of cookie!

4. Guilty pleasure when I don't have time to bake.

5. Too much!

6.Definitely not real.

7. Slightly underbaked

8.SO, so right?

September 3 | Unregistered CommenterDawn

What is your favorite type of cookie? I like something aromatic and sweet, but not crunchy. Snickerdoodles are my fave!

Oatmeal Cookies: With raisins, or chocolate chips? RAISINS all the way!

Dunking your cookies: Deliciousness, or a soggy mess? DELICIOUSNESS!

Slice n' bake cookies: Guilty pleasure, or never ever? Great in a pinch, when I'm too lazy to make something from scratch.

Jumbo bakery cookies: too much, or just enough? Too much.

Bar cookies: are they really cookies, or a different category entirely? I think they are cookies. Lemon bars are my favorite bar cookies.

Which is better: Slightly underbaked or slightly overbaked? Depends on the cookie, I think. However, I'm going to lean on the side of underbaked.

Eating cookie dough: so wrong, or so right? I know everyone in the world fights over spoons, beaters, etc, but knowing there's raw egg in the batter gives me the heeby jeebies. That's just because of my food science background!
