Cake Poll: Fall Treats!

October Cakespy Giveaway!

Sure, the days are getting shorter and cooler, but they're also getting sweeter. Halloween is just around the corner, a sweet kickoff to what promises to be a fall and winter full of pies, puddings and wonderful holiday treats.
And in celebration of all of this sweetness, this month's Cake Poll focuses on fall treats! The lucky winner will receive an original Cakespy watercolor depicting L'il Cuppie being chased by ghosts (pictured top)--looks like they didn't want to share their candy!

How do you enter? Just answer the below questions to be entered in the running! Responses may be entered in the comments section or emailed to jessieoleson@gmail.com.

  • Which do you prefer: candy corn or mellowcreme pumpkins?
  • Fun-size candy bars: do they make you happy or leave you hungry?
  • Trick-or-treaters without costumes: give 'em candy anyway, or turn 'em away?
  • Halloween candy-eating method: eat it as fast as you can, or ration it out to last?
  • Favorite cold-weather beverage: hot apple cider or hot chocolate?
  • Fall pie faceoff: apple or pumpkin?

The fine print: The poll will be closed at 12 p.m PST on Friday, October 17. As usual, the winner will be chosen at random. Entries from the US and beyond are welcome. Your info will never be shared and these questions are solely motivated by our nosy spy tendencies.

....and we have a winner! Our winner was JEAN from New Jersey! Jean entered in our comments section and most definitely prefers Candy Corn! While Mellowcreme Pumpkin may not approve, we were more than happy to see the piece of artwork go to such a sweet home!

#1: Candy corn, because they both make me sick after awhile and candy corns are smaller.
#2: Fun-size candy bars make me happy when I eat a lot of them. :)
#3: Yes, but I do so grudgingly.
#4: Ration it
#5: That depends. I like hot apple cider in October and November, but then it's hot chocolate until spring.
#6: Apple all the way! I don't like pumpkin pie that much. Pumpkin other stuff, yes. Pie, no.

4. I used to ration mine out until Easter!

Candy corn! It's the right ratio of outer "toughness" to inner squoosh.

Fun-size candy bars: they're a happy medium. I can always eat more of them and seem less piggy than eating a dozen regular-sized bars.

Trick-or-treaters without costumes: I'm not brave enough to turn them away, though I will give them less candy than I do kids.

Halloween candy-eating method: I usually separate them, eating the chocolates as quickly as possible and leaving the hard candies to give out next year. ;)

Favorite cold-weather beverage: Hot chocolate. Not cocoa, but chocolate with real milk and real melty chocolate bar bits. Yummmm!

Fall pie faceoff: Punkin pie! Mmmm...pie!

I love thse questions. :)
1. Candy Corn. Mixed with dry roasted peanuts.
2. Fun-sized candy bars are the perfect guilt-free snack.
3. I would never turn away anyone. Come, costumed or not.
4. Portions always. That way the joy lasts longer.
5. Hot chocolate, hands down.
6. Homemade pumpkin, plain- no whipped cream. I could eat an entire pie.

October 14 | Unregistered Commentermadrekarin

Ooh fun!

1. I always liked the pumpkins better, but I haven't had either in quite a few years.

2. Fun size should be called deprivation size!

3. If you're going to be trick or treating, you'd better be wearing a costume.

4. I always rationed it out, though my will power has only decreased with age.

5. Can I pick both?

6. Pumpkin!
