Cake Poll: WINter Wonderland Giveaway!

WINterwonderland Giveaway!
Halloween and the election are over...whew! And now, we're at the cusp of the sweetest season of the year, that series of two months where we eat copious amounts of delicious pumpkin pie and christmas cookies. That's right--November is the point of do not pass go, do not diet until New Year's.

And in celebration, we're offering a seasonal sweets poll! It's a bounty of five sweet prizes--for five separate winners! The following prizes are being offered:

  • One lucky winner will receive a cupcake tote bag from Penguinbot! Love is in the details with this sturdy, durable vinyl tote--it's delicately reverse-appliquéd with an adorable cupcake, with the an inner lining of bright, contrasting pattered fabric. It's an extremely well-made bag which would usually retail for $50 (and would be worth every penny). Even if you don't win, you should probably buy one (you know, to help the economy); you can get one here.
  • Two lucky winners will receive Elisa Strauss' new book, Confetti Cakes for Kids. Even without kids, these recipes are super fun and the pictures are amazing to look at!
  • Two winners will receive a pack of Cakespy Holiday notecards! Each pack includes an assortment of cards which are guaranteed to make this the sweetest holiday season ever!

What do you have to do to enter? Don't worry, it's easy. All you have to do is answer the following two questions.

1. What is your favorite Thanksgiving dessert?
2. What is your favorite Christmas cookie?

But wait, there's more! If you copy and paste (or include a link to) a recipe for either of your responses, you'll be entered into the drawing twice! That's right...double your chances of winning!

SORRY--THE POLL IS NOW CLOSED!

my favorite thanksgiving dessert is of course homemade apple pie and french vanilla ice cream. mmm.

my favorite christmas cookie is actually not really a cookie, i hope that's okay. my mom makes this AMAZING toblerone fudge, it's so creamy and delicious - and so easy to make!
the recipe she uses is here,
http://www.tastebook.com/recipes/495723-Toblerone-Fudge
she also makes white toblerone fudge, and sometimes swirls the two together!

1. Definitely my mom's pumpkin pie - apple pie goes any time of the year, but pumpkin pie is pure thanksgiving goodness.

2. And around Christmas, we always make chocolate mint snow top cookies - there's something about chocolate and mint together that always seems so wintery and perfect for the holidays:

Ingredients

* 1 1/2 C Flour
* 1 1/2 Tsp Baking Powder
* 1/4 Tsp Salt
* 10 Oz Mint Chocolate Chips
* 6 Tbsp Margarine, Imitation, softened
* 1 C Sugar
* 1 1/2 Tsp Vanilla
* 2 Eggs
* Confectioners Sugar

Directions

1. In bowl, combine flour, baking powder and salt; set aside. Microwave 1 cup of chocolate chips on HIGH 1 minutes, stir, microwave on HIGH 30 seconds longer, stir until smooth.
2. In bowl, beat margarine and sugar until creamy. Add melted chocolate and vanilla. Beat in eggs. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Stir in remaining chips. Wrap dough in plastic wrap, freeze until firm.
3. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Shape dough into 1 inch balls; coat with confectioners sugar. Place on ungreased cookie sheet.
4. Bake 10 - 12 minutes, until tops appear cracked. Let stand 5 minutes on cookie sheet. Cool completely.

I'm pretty boring. I guess Pumpkin Pie (really anything with Pumpkin) for Thanksgiving. For Christmas, I like chocolate chips. I know, boring.

My favorite Thanksgiving dessert is a pumpkin-maple cheesecake that I make every year. My favorite Christmas cookies by far is one my mom makes called Clark Bar Cookies - essentially a layer of peanut butter/graham cracker with chocolate ganache on top. Yum!

My favorite Thanksgiving dessert is pumpkin roll. I LOVE cream cheese frosting. Asking to pick my favorite Christmas cookie is like asking me to pick between my (fictional) children. :) But since I have to give an answer, I would probably say candy cane cookies. The linke to the pumpkin roll is:

Pumpkin pie of course! But I make it with both pumpkin and sweet potato! It's sooooo yummy!

What is your favorite Christmas cookie?

We call them snowballs in my house, but they're essentially mexican wedding cookies/russian teacakes. Yum!

Did someone say pumpkin pie yet? Or am I the first?

As far as cookies go, snickerdoodles are my all-time favorite. Fun to say, fun to eat!

My favorite Christmas cookie is this little jobber here. The plus side? It looks like a cupcake. I also do a molasses version and a choco stripe version:

My favorite Thanksgiving dessert is definitely homemade apple pie.

My favorite Christmas cookies are these chocolate walnut cookies that my mom makes every year. They are mostly walnuts with a little bit of chocolate dough holding them together. Russian tea cakes are a close second.

My (new) favorite Thanksgiving dessert is Pumpkin Cheesecake.

My favorite Christmas cookie is anything with cranberries, really. But my favorite Christmas cookies to make for others are Butter & Jam Thumbprints.

I love my moms Dutch Apple Pie...it is the most heavenly thing you will ever eat. As for cookies at Christmas? I love the peanut butter cookies w/ the Hershey kiss on top...could eat my weight in 'em!

Oh man I really had to scroll down to post a comment on this one. Lovely stuff you're giving away, just lovely! My awnsers:

1. Since we don't celebrate Thanksgiving here this is a difficult one. I think I've spent 2 Thanksgivings in the US and it was the first time I had pumpkin pie and I really liked that, so that will be my favourite I guess!

2. I like the sugar cookies shaped like christmas tree I do to give away. I usually decorate them with mini m&ms for the lights.

November 11 | Unregistered CommenterClumbsy Cookie
