Vanilla cake with chocolate frosting because chocolate cake with chocolate frosting wasnt an option and because it is easier to get more chocolaty flavor into a frosting than a regular cake.
Definitely a melt in your mouth vanilla bean frosting which leads into a rich, moist chocolatey chocolate cake. I'm hungry now :)

vanilla cake with chocolate frosting because it's a better balance of flavors - you can taste both the vanilla and the chocolate and neither overpowers the other. If you're going to do chocolate cake just go all the way - chocolate cake, chocolate frosting, chocolate shavings, chocolate filling...

Even though chocolate frosting is my fave (I eat it by the spoonful) I'd go with chocolate cake with vanilla frosting.
This is like asking me who I like better, my mother or my father. Unless the fate of the universe hinges on this choice, I think I'll just take one of each. If, on the other hand, life as we know it will go on, I'd sooner the vanilla with chocolate frosting.

Chocolate cake with vanilla frosting! I think that sometimes chocolate icing may take away from the flavor of a vanilla cake where all you taste is chocolate, which isn't a bad thing. But a rich, decadent chocolate cake paired with a sweet vanilla frosting creates the perfect match where you still get the chocolate and vanilla taste. The best of both worlds! Yummy!
