I like chocolate cake with vanilla frosting...except for when the dessert is for a fancy outing then I would use vanilla cake with chocolate frosting....

vanilla cake with chocolate icing is the best because the choclate can be real fudgy, and the vanilla cake just has the right sweetness and tenderness to make that chocolate icing tickle your tongue.

Given the two options, vanilla cake with chocolate frosting - however I suggest a third even better option - chocolate cake, with peanut butter frosting! That was the flavor of my all time favorite cupcake!
