Humble Pies: How Many Have You Tried?

There's some controversy on the subject of which day National Pie Day ought to be celebrated, either January 23 (as specified by the American Pie Council) or March 14 (as specified by the math geeks of the universe). We've got the perfect solution though: why not celebrate on both days? Certainly there's enough pie love to go around.
With March 14th coming around, we decided to forgo the usual apple, pumpkin or blueberry pie in favor of compiling a list of somewhat lesser-known pies; each is linked to a recipe or page explaining its history. Maybe you'll come across some old favorites or new discoveries. But mostly we're curious...how many have you tried?
If you're so inclined, feel free to post about it on your site or leave a comment below--if you want to get really fancy, you can specify which ones you've tried by italicizing which ones you've eaten, and link back to this post so everyone can judge--er, see--your responses!
And of course, if you have any other "forgotten" pies that you think we should know about, do tell!

WOW! I am not sure I have tried ANY of them! Shame on me! I will have to rectify that! I have wanted to try the grape pie, and ricotta pie is probably quite good!

I would love to know what Whortleberry pie is...sounds fascinating...and Buttertart pie sounds tantalizing. Never had any of 'em but definitely wanting to try!~

I have eaten:
Bean Pie (savory, not bad)
Chess Pie (yummy)
Grasshopper Pie (mint ice cream, yum)
Green Tomato Pie (Sweet) (I made a pie out of tomatillos, which are like green tomatoes, does that count?
Gooseberry Pie (the very first pie I ever baked was Gooseberry Cobbler, with the gooseberries coming straight out of the family garden. I was 10.
Grape Pie (a delicious, refined pie, the one I ate had custard, too)
Marionberry Pie (ubiquitous, where I live)
Mincemeat Pie (not bad, but only popular, it seems, among people who like fruitcake)
Mock Apple Pie (Ritz crackers, anyone?)
Shoofly Pie (blech, too much molasses)
Watergate Pie (pistachio pudding and nuts: definitely old school comfort food)
We enjoy the pie element to our neighborhood Ribs & Pie Fest every Labor Day. Usually, the men make the ribs and the women bring pie made with some sort of fresh fruit. There are prizes. It's all very, very good.
Pie is my favorite baked treat, though I still think I eat more cookies (and ice cream).

Apple Ketchup Pie (yes, it exists - I've made it!)
I have baked Butter Tart, and tried Mock Apple, but I am so curious about Sweet Pickle Pie! Is that the perfect side for barbecued hot dogs?
Easter Pie! like rice pudding in a pie.
1/2 cup uncooked Arborio rice (cooked in)
4 cups of whole milk
7 large eggs
1 cup sugar
2 teaspoons lemon extract (or the zest and juice of 1 Meyer lemon)
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
1 pound ricotta cheese, drained (minimum of 2 hours or preferably overnight)
Bake in a buttery, flaky pie crust for 1 hour at 375.
You forgot Buttermilk Pie. How about French Silk, or peanut butter pie?
I've eaten Avocado, Butter Tart, Chess, Grasshopper, Marionberry, Ricotta, and Shoofly. I'm not even a big pie fan. But I really like fresh peach pie. And my Mom's walnut pie - made with crushed graham crackers, walnuts, sugar and egg whites, served with lots of whipped cream.

I haven't heard of half of those pies.
But shoofly and chess are fairly popular in TX.
I normally see chess as lemon chess.
I personally like grasshopper, chess, and shoofly.

I think that Bumblebee pie should also be on this list. There is an amazing place in NW Arkansas called the "wooden spoon" that makes the most amazing pie and bumblebee is their best!

I think it's found in some older cookbooks...especially Southeastern American church cookbooks. Basically is a mixture of mayo over tomatoes and topped with a ton of cheddar cheese in a pie shell...looks a bit odd but delicious.
