I would have to say either a pound cake, for it's rich simplicity (it's my favorite), or a red velvet cake with rich cream cheese frosting, for theme reasons.

Both are amazingly delicious and actually my two favorite kinds of cake, though I believe any cake shared with the one you love could be utterly romantic. Even if it's just plain vanilla!

For valantines day i would looove a rich chcolate cupcake with icing that has a hint of peppermint. It can be decorated with red so it look festive; plus it goes with the season!
