Cake vs. pie? I'd have to go with pie. A luscious fruit pie beats a chocolate or vanilla cake any day. Famous pie quote "Penny Lane is in my eyes and in my ears / A four of fish and finger pies". Good. Famous cake quote "Let them eat cake!" Not so good. (Argued with tongue in cheek!)

I am undecided as well, but that pie is gorgeous!
Pie because it is the most consistent. Cake has too many variables. I have had many awful cakes in my time. Grocery store cake with inches of tongue-coating buttercream and weird gelatinous fruit filling? Ick.

Cake all the way! Not a fan of the texture of most pie crusts, and nothing beats a moist, fluffy cake.

No contest. PIE! All the way. Plain, fried, a la mode, with tons of whipped cream, for breakfast, with black coffee, for dessert or with a glass of milk... (My personal favorite is apple crumb-top, fried in bacon grease & served with crispy bacon & rum raisin ice cream. And/or with a small slice of melty cheddar cheese.) Cake is a feeble contender for best dessert
...most of the time cake is dry, which I find EXTREMELY off-putting. Like Julie said above, pie is waaaaaay more consistent than cake. I've had more good pies than good cakes. Only carrot cake could potentially win me over, but if I never ate cake again, I'd be pretty okay. Just as long as I could have pie
It dependends! I like them both. At different times. And for different reasons depending on what I feel like.
For example, um ...I may want chocolate cake over a raspberry pie one day. But... then I may feel like an delicious homemade apple pie on July 4th rather than a blue cake and cool whip with red berries. I feel like I am put in the middle here, and I am uncomfortable with taking a side.
Dear Cake and Pie- Please know that I love you both and that when I choose one of you over the other, it doesn't mean I love any one of you ANY less.
P.S. Cake gets kids birthdays and Pie gets Thanksgiving. :)
