Cookie Monster: The Bacon, Cereal and Orange Juice Breakfast Cookie for Serious Eats

Bacon, cereal and orange juice Breakfast Cookies
You love breakfast. You love cookies. So why have they been kept separate for so long?

They join forces in one whopper of a cookie for my latest feature on Serious Eats: the Bacon, Cereal, and Orange Juice Breakfast Cookie! Each of these monster cookies contains an AM trifecta of deliciousness, balancing sweet and savory with plenty of butter on top.

Worth waking up for in the morning, or have I made you want to vomit into your coffee? Either way, it's an interesting recipe, based on one that I found in a 1980s cookie cookbook!

I would usually say yuck, but I have heard of a sweet doughnut that contains bacon in and on it that is supposed to be amazing. Interesting concept. A must try...maybe if I am bold. :)

Another breakfast and cookie combination: Cookie Crisps. I always wanted that cereal as a kid. My mom never bought it. Why would she?...cookies for breakfast! Now that I'm an adult, I can eat whatever I want!

My first inclination was to say naaaaasty, but then I became intrigued by the addition of orange juice. I love almost anything with Grape-Nuts, maybe I'll have to try this.

The original recipe called for a lot more bacon than I used, but I think that it would have been overkill. They're definitely not for everyone, but I thought they had a pretty good and interesting flavor. If nervous, perhaps you could try just adding one or two strips of bacon (or veggie bacon, whatevs) and "work up" from there if you liked 'em!

This is such a cool recipe! Old cookbooks are the best :D.

Glad to hear that veggie bacon works. Congratulations on your find!

I have to try this! On their own all of those ingredients work, so why not combine them? Great find.
