Sweet Art: Contagious for Illustration Friday

Cupcakes and Bacon with Cocktails
Food trends are a funny thing. From pesto to wrap sandwiches to tiramisu, sometimes a certain dish will capture people's fancy until it is just about beaten into the ground.

For this week's Illustration Friday theme of Contagious, I have chosen to illustrate two of the trendiest foods around: cupcakes and bacon. Sure, some foodie types will argue that they've jumped the shark, but these sweet (and salty) pleasures, which have captured the nation's (and, it seems, world's) attention, still seem to be spreading like wildfire, which leads one to believe that the fever for these foods is still contagious.

I didnt realise bacon was trendy, but then my boyfriend said: 'Bacon is always trendy!' So I guess it's true :)

So cute - have you ever seen a bacon cupcake? I've only seen bacon chocolate though in Bellingham, there is a Bacon Donut. I've yet to try it. =)

That's hilarious! You should definitely sell this design on t-shirts. You could make a veggie version that says fake bacon. ;D

We tried a bacon cupcake when we came to New York in March and I have to say I really didn't like it...nor the bacon chocolate we tried, but each to their own! I agree this illustration would make a sweet (or should that be salty) tshirt!

Hey lady! This adorable mini cupcake place in Brooklyn makes Bacon Maple Pecan cupcakes - Kumquat Cupcakery. Haven't tried that flavor yet, but their Peanut Butter Banana and Honey ones are delicious...

I don't care how many sharks bacon or cupcakes have jumped. Bring 'em on! Just because they were 'pop culture' and not simply 'food' for a few years is not their sticky, sweet, savory, fatty fault!

I love this illustration so much!

OMG, I love you for this picture. You have combined 2 of my favorite things into one.

Seriously, I need this on a t-shirt, a mug, a sticker for my van, a magnet, a hat, anything.

I absolutely adore this illustration. It has made me smile today. Thanks. Found your lovely blog through Angela Henrie. xx

I love your blog, thank you so much for sharing :-)

I already told you I loved this, but this weekend I put my money where my mouth is. I bought a print with a similar picture while at Trophy this past weekend! I really enjoyed looking at all the pictures in your display. :-)

Thank you so much everyone!! Maura, thank you for dropping by the Trophy show--I am so pleased that you got a piece that is perfect for you! :-)

Teagan: I am thinking of making a similar design for a t-shirt. I will keep you updated!
