um...my mom used to make that sandwich cake for "luincheons" but i am pretty sure hers was iced with mayonnaise...yum...or not.

Oh, my goodness! The sandwich cake made me laugh! My grandmother made sandwich loaves covered in cream cheese for parties. There would be deviled ham on one layer, egg salad on another and on the top layer, chicpineapple and cream cheese. What a combo! But, they were always gone at the end of the party. For thirty years her loaf sandwiches graced her party tables. And no, I haven't made one.
