Cake Poll: Love and Chocolate!

Win it: Cake poll!
How time flies! It's been a while since our last Cake Poll, so we're making up for it by offering a very sweet treat: an original (not a print!) Cakespy watercolor! The watercolor (shown top) will come in a 4x5 inch frame and will go to just one lucky winner. All you have to do to enter is leave a comment with your responses to the below poll, centered around the star of all February sweetness: chocolate! Here goes:

  1. Chocolates for Valentine's Day: cute or cliché?
  2. The chocolate box: which flavor would you rather leave for others?
  3. Milk chocolate: amateur hour or respectable citizen?
  4. Chocolate in savory foods (mole sauce, etc): awesome, or awful?
  5. Hot chocolate: with or without marshmallows?
  6. Chocolate-flavored or scented body products: ooh, or eww?
  7. What's your favorite chocolate dessert?
The poll is open for anyone (US and international!) to enter; the deadline is 12 p.m. PST on Saturday, February 14. The winner will be announced shortly after!

1. Chocolates for Valentine's Day: cute or cliché? Cliche, but I certainly won't refuse some!

2. The chocolate box: which flavor would you rather leave for others? That one piece with the strange, unidentifiable fruity nastiness in it.

3. Milk chocolate: amateur hour or respectable citizen? Amateur! Dark chocolate beats out milk anytime, anywhere.

4. Chocolate in savory foods (mole sauce, etc): awesome, or awful? Awesome! I mean, really, why not?

5. Hot chocolate: with or without marshmallows? With enough to cover the top of the mug and keep the chocolate warm!

6. Chocolate-flavored or scented body products: ooh, or eww? On me, eww. On my boyfriend, yummy! :D

7. What's your favorite chocolate dessert? So far, this is the most difficult question that I've had to answer in college. Well, right now I am really craving a big, moist slice of a classic chocolate cake with chocolate hazelnut icing. So, I'll have to go with that!

3.--respectable... milk chocolate is a perfectly wonderful standby, but I do love to mix it up.
4.--I wish I could say I'd tried it... could be awesome?
5.--always with marshmallows... you need the creaminess as they melt.
6.--scented might be weird... but the flavored things... mmmm... not that I've tried.......
7.--classic brownie sundae, with thick, rich, hot fudge sauce!

February 13 | Unregistered CommenterRoggia

Chocolates for Valentine's Day: cute if it's unique or gourmet; cliché otherwise. However, chocolate is always a yummy gift, cliche or not!

The chocolate box: anything with nuts

Milk chocolate: Oh, MOST respectable citizen. Always a classic.

Chocolate in savory foods (mole sauce, etc): Interesting idea (points for creativity) but I'm thinking no.

Hot chocolate: with or without marshmallows? Switch it up!

Chocolate-flavored or scented body products: ooh, unless it's too artificial smelling/tasting--then it's an eww.

What's your favorite chocolate dessert? Chocolate cake mixed with chocolate ice cream; so, essentially, chocolate ice cream cake! :)

1. Chocolates for Valentine's Day: cute or cliché?
As long as it's yummy chocolate, I'm happy! Especially the fruit nougat kind!
2. The chocolate box: which flavor would you rather leave for others? I'm not a big fan of caramel in my chocolate. I also like the milk chocolate assortment over others.
3. Milk chocolate: amateur hour or respectable citizen? Lovelovelove milk chocolate. I'm too wimpy for dark chocolate.
4. Chocolate in savory foods (mole sauce, etc): awesome, or awful? I grew up eating mole. My abuelita made it just for me :) Probably top three of my favorite foods ever.
5. Hot chocolate: with or without marshmallows? I don't eat gelatin, and I haven't had vegan marshmallows yet, so I don't know if I should say yes. But I used to love marshmallows in my hot chocolate.
6. Chocolate-flavored or scented body products: ooh, or eww?
EW!
7. What's your favorite chocolate dessert?
a chocolate cinnamon torte I made recently from the recipe Design*Sponge provided :)

February 13 | Unregistered CommenterTeaspoon

2. I would leave the orange-filled dark chocolates for the next person.
3.Milk chocolate- A very respectable citizen.
4. Blecch. Not awesome.
5. Without. Definitely without.
6. Oh, ew.
7. Classic, homemade chocolate pudding with real whipped cream.

February 14 | Unregistered Commentermadrekarin

1. Chocolate is never cliche, but it's all in the presentation.

2. I actually dig holes into the bottom to see the flavor before I eat them. I don't think anyone wants the wants I leave behind after that.

3. I detest milk chocolate.

4. Using chocolate in savory dishes can be wonderful - but I don't recommend just throwing it in anything.

5. Always with marshmallows, of course!

6. Ewww on the chocolate scented or flavored body products. That has Spencer's Gifts written all over it.

7. Chocolate Souffle is my favorite.

February 14 | Unregistered CommenterJill

1. Chocolates for Valentine's Day: cute or cliché? Clichè, sure, but definitely desired and appreciated always! So...cute in their clichè-ness?

2. The chocolate box: which flavor would you rather leave for others? Generally things with nuts - or at least that's what everyone would find left, I'd have eaten all the buttercreams

3. Milk chocolate: amateur hour or respectable citizen? Definitely respectable citizen, especially European milk chocolate

4. Chocolate in savory foods (mole sauce, etc): awesome, or awful? Awesome!

5. Hot chocolate: with or without marshmallows? Regular hot chocolate, definitely with! Hot drinking chocolate, not even necessary.

6. Chocolate-flavored or scented body products: ooh, or eww? Ewwww - no one seems to have done it right yet.

7. What's your favorite chocolate dessert? It's cruel to even choose, but a good brownie (undercooked, gooey, no nuts!) always hits the spot!

February 14 | Unregistered CommenterRachel

3. Milk chocolate: amateur hour or respectable citizen? amateur hour, but, again, I won't turn it down.

4. Chocolate in savory foods (mole sauce, etc): awesome, or awful? Awful. Sweet and savory glitches my brain out.

5. Hot chocolate: with or without marshmallows? With!

6. Chocolate-flavored or scented body products: ooh, or eww? Eww.

1. Cute! When we were dating long-distance, my husband sent me Cheesecake Factory truffles on dry ice. Super sweet and delicious!

2.Coconut and some of the fruit-filled ones. Blech.

3.Classic and delicious!

4. I'll take chocolate in anything, anytime.

5. With! The more marshmallows, the better!

6. Ooh...unless I'm hungry. Then they're not so great!

7. Flourless torte or those cakes with warm, melted chocolate in the middle. Now I'm really hungry.

February 14 | Unregistered CommenterLauren

1. If you show up for V-day dinner with a box of Ferrar Roche, you should get dumped.
2. I'll leave the coconut creams for my mom.
3. Milk chocolate + caramel or milk chocolate + almond paste are a delightful combination.
4. Awesome--especially with spicy foods or curry flavoring.
5. Never cared for hot chocolate--too cloying, and marshmallows are simply ridiculous foodstuffs. Notice how there is no such thing as a 'gourmet' marshmallow? They exist only to be sold in plastic bulk bags in overlit drugstore candy aisles. Marshmallows are where the dessert arts go to die.
6. Body products: I can see the potential, but only perhaps as a note with other scents, like leather, tobacco, vetiver or vanilla.
7. Chocolate pate; pumpkin ice cream w/chocolate glaze; chocolate terrine w/raspberry glaze; chocolate mango mousse; white Lindor truffles..

February 14 | Unregistered CommenterSean Capone

1. No such thing as cliche chocolate. Or if it is cliche, it is forgiven, because it is, um, chocolate.

2. Bittersweet chocolate i will leave for others who are more mature than i ever hope to be. And anything that has been corrupted with fruit.

3. Milk chocolate is for the child within us. Refer to #2 above.

4. Chocolate in mole, yum. I haven't experienced it in other grown-up formats, but I'm open.

5. No marshmallows, thank you. Substitute Tia Maria.

6. Ew. No food-flavored lotions or perfumes thank you. They are equivalent to the ickiness of white chocolate. The smell is enticing, but the taste is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay different than expected.

7. What isn't? Oh, OK. the true answer is, the one I just had. Whenever.
