Cake Poll: Love and Chocolate!
Wednesday, February 11, 2009
How time flies! It's been a while since our last Cake Poll, so we're making up for it by offering a very sweet treat: an original (not a print!) Cakespy watercolor! The watercolor (shown top) will come in a 4x5 inch frame and will go to just one lucky winner. All you have to do to enter is leave a comment with your responses to the below poll, centered around the star of all February sweetness: chocolate! Here goes:
- Chocolates for Valentine's Day: cute or cliché?
- The chocolate box: which flavor would you rather leave for others?
- Milk chocolate: amateur hour or respectable citizen?
- Chocolate in savory foods (mole sauce, etc): awesome, or awful?
- Hot chocolate: with or without marshmallows?
- Chocolate-flavored or scented body products: ooh, or eww?
- What's your favorite chocolate dessert?
The poll is open for anyone (US and international!) to enter; the deadline is 12 p.m. PST on Saturday, February 14. The winner will be announced shortly after!

3.Classic and delicious!
4. I'll take chocolate in anything, anytime.
5. With! The more marshmallows, the better!
6. Ooh...unless I'm hungry. Then they're not so great!

3. Milk chocolate + caramel or milk chocolate + almond paste are a delightful combination.
4. Awesome--especially with spicy foods or curry flavoring.
5. Never cared for hot chocolate--too cloying, and marshmallows are simply ridiculous foodstuffs. Notice how there is no such thing as a 'gourmet' marshmallow? They exist only to be sold in plastic bulk bags in overlit drugstore candy aisles. Marshmallows are where the dessert arts go to die.
6. Body products: I can see the potential, but only perhaps as a note with other scents, like leather, tobacco, vetiver or vanilla.
7. Chocolate pate; pumpkin ice cream w/chocolate glaze; chocolate terrine w/raspberry glaze; chocolate mango mousse; white Lindor truffles..

4. Chocolate in mole, yum. I haven't experienced it in other grown-up formats, but I'm open.
5. No marshmallows, thank you. Substitute Tia Maria.
6. Ew. No food-flavored lotions or perfumes thank you. They are equivalent to the ickiness of white chocolate. The smell is enticing, but the taste is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay different than expected.
7. What isn't? Oh, OK. the true answer is, the one I just had. Whenever.
