Cake Byte: Sweet Thanks and a Cake Poll and Giveaway!

First off and perhaps most importantly, a big, huge, with whipped cream and cherry on top thank you to all of our readers. Because of you, dear sweet freaks, the illustration and writing opportunities have made it possible for Head Spy Jessie to quit her day job (she was the product manager / art director of a refrigerator magnet company--no joke)! All we can say is brace yourselves--this means that the Cakespy enterprise is about to get even sweeter! Thank you all so much for your support.
How can you put your name in the running? It's easy! All you need to do is this:
- To satisfy our nosy tendencies (we are spies, after all), fill out the below Cake Poll! You can leave your responses in the comment section, or send your responses via email to jessieoleson@gmail.com.
- At 12pm PST on Friday, April 25, the Cake Poll will be closed. The winner will be chosen at random, not based on their responses. The original will then be shipped to the lucky winner within 48 hours, via the most economical method.
- As for our fine print: The results of this poll will be used for entertainment and Cake Gumshoeing purposes only; we may summarize the results of this poll in upcoming posts. Your private information will not be shared with any outside parties. Also, we've elected to leave the cake poll open to all US Territories, Canada and abroad--so even overseas cake enthusiasts can take part! *As for the prize itself, it is the miniature framed painting pictured at the top and to the left; no substitutions are allowed.

Carrot Cake: With or without pineapple? Pineapple is okay, probably rather without it, but MUST have nuts.
Neapolitan Roulette: Strawberry, chocolate or vanilla? Chocolate all the way!

Cookies: Soft and gooey or crisp and crunchy? Depends on what kind, but probably prefer soft and gooey, or at least chewy.
Fancy Restaurant Desserts: Tiramisu or Crème brûlée? Neither.
Cupcakes: Vanilla or Chocolate? Yes. Probably Chocolate is better.
Apple Pie with Cheese: Delicious or disgusting? Actually never tried it. I'd say disgusting, although I've heard it's really good.

Here is my opinion:
In the Morning: muffins
Carrot Cake: without pineapple
Neapolitan Roulette: Strawberry
Mambo Italiano: Gelato
Cookies: Soft and gooey
Fancy Restaurant Desserts: Tiramisu or Crème brûlée. That one I can't pick just one. It depends on my mood. Now if they are offering chocolate Crème brûlée (yes it exists) then I would definitely have to pick that.
Cupcakes: Vanilla
Apple Pie with Cheese: disgusting
Strawberry Shortcake: Sponge Cake Style
Ultimate Faceoff: Pie or cake. This is another toughy that I cannot choose between. It depends on what I feel like. I love pie but I also like cake :S
Ooo this looks like too much fun to pass up. I had to be silly and take this in a more literal sense.
In the morning: It would have to be muffins. Have you seen the SIZE of most of those breakfast muffins or "bruffins". They are like a small meteoroid. The scones don't stand a chance!
Carrot Cake: With pineapple. That spikey fruit is so menacing, it could kick ever other fruits butt!
Neapolitan Roulette: Chocolate can stop a rampaging PMSing woman in her tracks and reduce her to a blubbley mess of pure joy. Vanilla and strawberry are mere consolation prizes.
Mambo Italiano: I have nothing witty for this one but I have to go with gelato. Panna Cotta uses geletin and geletin is foul.
Cookies: While I enjoy soft and gooey more, the crisp and crunchy ones would mutilate them in a face-off.
Fancy Restaurant Desserts: Turamisu for sure. Packed with rum you just know it will have a fiery temper and a mean punch!
Cupcakes: See Neopolitan Roulette.
Apple pie with cheese: Cheese should be added to everything. EVERYTHING!!
Strawberry Shortcake: Like with the cookies I think the harder version, (in this case biscuit) would crush it's softer, more sensitive contender.
Ultimate Faceoff: While I think the pie looks like it could kick more butt than a cake (with the cake being the pretty boy of the two) I myself would have to step in and smush the pie. Cake is love.
I will expound a bit on one or two items.
Scones in the morning, especially if they are cream scones with currants.
Carrot cake without the pineappple, unless it's made in a way that the pineapple is nowhere in sight.
Strawberry wins in Neopolitan Roulette if it's homemade.
Gelato, especially gianduja!
Crips and crunchy cookies...
Crème brûlée in a fancy restaurant.
Chocolate cupcakes with vanilla buttercream frosting tinted a very pale pink.
No cheese, please!
Being from the south, I'll have my strawberry shortcake biscuit-style, and those biscuits should be very lightly caressed with sweet butter, thank you.
The Ultimate Faceoff is the hardest; I love, love, love fruit (i.e. pie) desserts, but there is something so warm and cozy about cake, so cake it is.
