Cake Byte: Sweet Thanks and a Cake Poll and Giveaway!

New Cake Poll!
First off and perhaps most importantly, a big, huge, with whipped cream and cherry on top thank you to all of our readers. Because of you, dear sweet freaks, the illustration and writing opportunities have made it possible for Head Spy Jessie to quit her day job (she was the product manager / art director of a refrigerator magnet company--no joke)! All we can say is brace yourselves--this means that the Cakespy enterprise is about to get even sweeter! Thank you all so much for your support.

But of course, we know what speaks louder than any words: free stuff! So, without further ado, our second Cake Poll and Giveaway! This time, in keeping with the item being given away, the theme is Faceoffs!!

FaceoffHow can you put your name in the running? It's easy! All you need to do is this:

  • To satisfy our nosy tendencies (we are spies, after all), fill out the below Cake Poll! You can leave your responses in the comment section, or send your responses via email to jessieoleson@gmail.com.
  • At 12pm PST on Friday, April 25, the Cake Poll will be closed. The winner will be chosen at random, not based on their responses. The original will then be shipped to the lucky winner within 48 hours, via the most economical method.
  • As for our fine print: The results of this poll will be used for entertainment and Cake Gumshoeing purposes only; we may summarize the results of this poll in upcoming posts. Your private information will not be shared with any outside parties. Also, we've elected to leave the cake poll open to all US Territories, Canada and abroad--so even overseas cake enthusiasts can take part! *As for the prize itself, it is the miniature framed painting pictured at the top and to the left; no substitutions are allowed.

FACEOFFS! If the following pairings were put in a boxing match or found themselves in a dark alley vying for your sweet love, which would win? Which do you prefer? Feel free to expound on your reasoning if you'd like!

Oh boy! Well, here goes:

In the morning: Muffins are gutsier than scones. They'd kick scones a$$!

Carrot Cake: With Pineapple. Is there any other way?

Neapolitan Roulette: Strawberry has much more personality.

Mambo Italiano: Oooh! Tough one! Gotta go with Gelato. (Sorry, Panna Cotta. I still love you too.)

Cookies: Soft and gooey says love a lot better than crisp and crunchy.

Fancy Restaurant Desserts: But, of course, zee creme brulee! Certainment!

Cupcakes: Definitely vanilla (with chocolate frosting)

Apple Pie with Cheese: Ew! 'Nuff said.

Strawberry Shortcake: Biscuits are the only way to shortcake, y'all!

Ultimate Faceoff: Cake - with lots of layers and tons of frosting!

In the Morning: If it was muffin tops vs scones - muffin tops to the max - but since it's whole muffins, I'll have to go with scones!
Carrot Cake: Oi! I make carrot cake with apple sauce, pineapple makes sense!
Neapolitan Roulette: strawberry always gets eaten first!
Mambo Italiano: gelato! even better.. gelato affogato! MMmmmmm
Cookies: crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside - the perfect chocolate chip cookie
Fancy Restaurant Desserts: Crème brûlée
Cupcakes: vanilla, with chocolate frosting
Apple Pie with Cheese: never tried it, i'm willing to try, but i'm scared of it
Strawberry Shortcake: Biscuit-style , oh very muchly biscuit

Chocolate, yummmmmmmm

Mambo Italiano: Gelato or Panna Cotta?
Gelato.....also yummmmmmmm!

Soft, gooey and WARM. With milk.

Fancy Restaurant Desserts: Tiramisu or Crème brûlée?
Easy! Tiramisu. The texture of creme brulee grosses me out.

Chocolate with white icing.

April 22 | Unregistered CommenterCookie Jill

In the Morning: Scones or muffins? Surely neither - aren't we all on muesli and fruit? Ha ha ha. Muffins, as an English scone comes with cream and jam which is a bit much even for me in the early hours

Carrot Cake: With or without pineapple? Without - anyone who needs an explanation is insane!!!!

Neapolitan Roulette: Strawberry, chocolate or vanilla? The answer is always vanilla, regardless of the question

Mambo Italiano: Gelato or Panna Cotta? Gelato I think, panna cotta is a bit like eating slime, albeit nice slime

Cookies: Soft and gooey or crisp and crunchy? Crisp - it has to withstand dunking in tea

Fancy Restaurant Desserts: Tiramisu or Crème brûlée? Controversial maybe but neither - there are better uses of calories. If I had to though, creme brulee.

Cupcakes: Vanilla or Chocolate? Vanilla. The answer is always vanilla

Apple Pie with Cheese: Delicious or disgusting? Not only disgusting but also wrong on so many levels.

Strawberry Shortcake: Biscuit-style or Sponge Cake Style? Sponge. Sponge beats all!

Ultimate Faceoff: Pie or cake? Trick question???? Of course it's cake! I don't see a site called "Piespy" - do you?

In the Morning: Scones or muffins? Scones - but I rarely eat them as they're too heavy in the morning. My mom's oat muffins were a childhood favourite, and not just in the morning.

Carrot Cake: With or without pineapple? Eww, without!

Neapolitan Roulette: Strawberry, chocolate or vanilla? Hmm, I suppose vanilla.

Mambo Italiano: Gelato or Panna Cotta? Gelato.

Cookies: Soft and gooey or crisp and crunchy? Hard as both have their place, but as I used to adore ginger snaps I'll go crisp and crunchy.

Fancy Restaurant Desserts: Tiramisu or Crème brûlée? Neither? Too heavy for me, I usually like sorbet or fruit based desserts.

Cupcakes: Vanilla or Chocolate? Vanilla. I adore chocolate, but not chocolate flavoured things as it dilutes the chocolatey-ness.

Apple Pie with Cheese: Delicious or disgusting? Disgusting!

Strawberry Shortcake: Biscuit-style or Sponge Cake Style? Sponge cake, of course.

Ultimate Faceoff: Pie or cake? Pie! For breakfast!

April 23 | Unregistered CommenterRobin

well this is fun.

in the morning: definitely muffins. scones are dry and gross.

carrot cake: with pineapple. carrot cake without pineapple is dry and...well, not gross. carrot cake can never be gross.

neapolitan roulette: alone, it would be strawberry. accompanying any and all desserts, it would be vanilla.

mambo italiano: gelato. so much variety.

cookies: soft and gooey, but with crunchy bits (like nuts) mixed in.

fancy restaurant desserts: neither. i guess i don't belong in fancy restaurants. :)

cupcakes: either one--it's generally the frosting that i'm after anyway.

apple pie with cheese: absolutely disgusting. the very thought makes me shudder.

strawberry shortcake: biscuit-style. a southerner loves her biscuits, especially when they're soaked with strawberry juice.

ultimate faceoff: that's tough. i'll say cake, but only if cream cheese icing is involved.
