Thursday, August 2, 2007
So, you'd like to join us in the sugary love-letter that is CakeSpy? Welcome!
We love to publish submissions from readers. If you'd like to contribute or write a guest blog post, we'd love to hear from you! As to the subject matter, as long as it's in the realm of sweets, the sky's the limit! Perhaps it's a roundup of your favorite local bakeries, a profile on a baker you love, or even one of your favorite family recipes!
Please ensure that you've spell-checked and grammar-checked your submission first, and please also send pictures!
Email submissions to jessieoleson@gmail.com.
Here's what we look for:
Bakery Guides: Got a lot of sweet spots in your hometown? Put together some thoughts and suggestions on places in your area and send them over. Be sure to send pictures!
Interviews: Do you know a cool baker? Do an interview! Send over pictures of the baker's work and the questions and answers.
Recipes: Do you have a supremely delicious / special sweet recipe? Send it over with pictures, and of course the story behind why it's so special to you!
Projects: Got a creative and sweet dessert-related craft project or idea? We'd love to hear all about it. How-to's are welcome!

I've just started a private cupcake making business at home and have decided that the best way to start selling is at our local Farmer's Markets on Saturdays. Any advice for how a 21yr old can kick-start a business like this when the competition can be tough??
My approach is organic and I don't use artificial alternatives so I'm thinking this is good because it will encourage people to use my healthier methods without eliminating taste. What do you think? :)
If I won I would make twice baked almond croissants :) mmm

I'm a self - Taught Baker and Mother of 3 trying to get my name out! I love the artistry that goes into cakes and I hope one day to have a few Cake Charities under my wing. I grew up the custody of the state of Virgina and I know just how hard the kids in the system have to work in order to receive the same opportunities as every other child. I would love support in starting a national Cake Auction someday where bakers everywhere unite for the same cause...Saving the World One Cake at a time! Every baker donates a cake regionally to be auctioned with all proceeds going to the most deserving and financially needy charities nationwide, and beyond ! Kind of like OSASS but as a Charity! Of course I've never been in a competition (and I'd love to be in a competition) but I'm still Young yet and I will not give up until my mark has been made on the Cake World! I hope you will look at my self taught homemade cakes. I have been inspired by the cake boss but I have devoted myself to trying new recipes and stretching the limit with Flavors in Cake and my own hand in following art. My one Cake accomplishment was earlier this summer when I was able to give Paula Deen a "Butter" Cake!
Sooooooo cute! I want to get all of it!!
