CakeSpy is Thankful for You. Now Win a book!

Thanksgiving is the perfect occasion to get a little cheesy. So here I go:

I am thankful for you. And by "you" I mean any and everyone who has taken or is taking the time to read my website.

When I began CakeSpy in 2007, I thought it would be a way of combining my three greatest loves (writing, illustration, baked goods) in one place. As a hobby.

But it has become so much more--it has become not only my livelihood, but a big part of my identity and life.

So I guess I'm saying...thanks for supporting my life and livelihood by reading this sweet site. It makes my day that you might leave this site a little happier than when you came.

But you know what? I'm not just going to get cheesy in this post. I'm also going to give away a copy of MY BOOK, CakeSpy Presents Sweet Treats for a Sugar-Filled Life. It's not only a great read, it's full of sweet recipes! It's perfect to keep, or to give to a friend for the holidays (don't worry, I won't tell them you won it rather than buying). Oh, and I'll sign it for you too, and draw a unicorn in it. YES!

How to enter to win? It's so, so easy. All you have to do is a leave a comment on this post (don't panic if it doesn't show up RIGHT away--comment moderation is enabled) saying something you're thankful for. It can be sweet or savory or not even food at all--what is making you feel thankful this Thanksgiving?

This giveaway is open to everyone (US, abroad, whatevs), but it will close one week from today, November 29 at 5pm EST. Can't stand the idea of not winning? You can always shop online here, and use code AWESOME12 through next Monday for free shipping on all orders over $25.00.

I'm thankful for my cat. He's always there for me. He may not be able to hold a conversation or do the laundry, but the love and attention he gives is worth more than anything. Thanks Beau! I love you.

Of course I am thankful for my family, and friends. But, I am thankful for the inventers of the internet....I know it sounds corny, but really do you know how long it takes a letter to go overseas? or how costly a phone call to overseas is? Well, if it wasn't for the internet, and a whole lot other services available over the internet, then I would never be able to be part of some of my family members lives, whom work overseas. Besides, where we be if we couldn't read "CAKESPY?

I am thankful for my kids and a roof over my head and my job :) I know that's lame, but I've been very close to a lot of very big disasters in the past few months and to be able to have my kids and my home and a job is a very very large victory for me <3

I am thankful for so many different things in my life. As a college student-athlete, I have many responisbilities but there is no way I could ever juggle everything without the help of my family, teammates and coaches. I really want to thank all of them for their help and support and to let them know I really care about what they do for me.

I am thankful for the sewing class I took shortly after moving to Chicago in 2002. I didn't get credit for the course but it has turned out to be more valuable than any credit course I have taken. I have made hundreds and hundreds of fleece balaclavas, gaiters, and scarves to pass out for free to cyclists to encourage them to ride year-round. I have made snuggly blankets for babies and cute skirts for children. I have also turned black Winter clothing into high-visibility gear to make travel safer for cyclists and pedestrians. Most recently, I made a catnip mouse for the scrappy stray cats in my back yard. I enjoy seeing the things I've made as I travel around Chicago and how something as simple as a sewn gift can make someone else (even scrappy stray cats) happy.

I'm thankful for things to numerous to name, but here are a few:

1. for friends in a totally new place (Portland) who made my Thanksgiving awesome!
2. for inventions like food processors and mixers-- how amazing are you guys?
3. for awesome, generous food-bloggers like cakespy, who care about their readers and share their time and recipes.

Happy holidays!! ☆^∇゜)
